I don't support the ICU, since they birthed the shabab terrorists but we definitely need something common to unite all Somali brothers.. Our division is getting deeper we're headed to a bleak future if we don't change our ways .

It’s partially true.

the Islamic courts unions had wings that named themselves Shabab and some units who didn’t.

But icu wasn’t Al Shabab.

icu is the successor party of the United Somali courts.

ICU run southern Somalia in 2006, they didn’t forge an alliance with Al Qaida like Al Shabab did.

when Ethiopia invaded Somalia in 2006, and toppled the icu government, ICU and the Shabab wing became separate organizations.

ICU went to Eritrea led by Sheikh Sharif Yusuf and Al shabab was led by Mukhtar Rubow.

ICU were moderate and they were never listed as terrorist organization by the US state department.

ICU and Al Shabab were even fighting each other.

ICU never had any ties to Al Qaida or Isis like Al Shabab had

ICU endorses a centralized state based on Islam while Al Shabab promoted qabilad and crime.
Al Shabab has never been a truly religious organization while ICU promote peace unity stability and used Islam as a way to unite Somalia
