There is also another hadeeth where a sahabi caught his wife cheating and the verses of lian where revealed but that another story altogether.

The prophet himself had to though such a situation when people accused aisha of committing zina. The prophet didn't act on impulse and kill both of them unjustly he waited for Allah's verdict on the matter.

We do not have more gairah then the prophet and we are not better than the prophet so don't take matters into your own hands and don't let a cheater cause you to eat yourself up just move on.
