Is a full-scale war between Hezbollah and Israel on the horizon?

I'm struggling to understand what they hope to achieve. They are on a path to total destruction. Hizbollah has said many times they will not stop their aggression in the north unless a ceasefire deal is reached with Hamas that ensures the permanent withdrawal of Israeli troops. Why would they go to war and open another front? They haven't even defeated Hamas after eight months of carpet bombing everything in their way. How could they possibly think they can handle Hizbollah? It doesn't make any sense. Hizbollah has not even used any of their high-precision weapons yet. Think about that. Hiz will hit all their critical infrastructure, their electricity grid will be one of their main targets. The whole country will be plunged into a chaotic, post-nuclear-apocalypse-like scenario. They will not achieve anything but destruction if they choose to go to war.
The whole region could be engulfed in conflict, with Shia militias potentially joining from Syria, Iraq, Iran, and maybe even Afghanistan. I think it's all talk, there's no way they are that stupid. They have surely calculated every outcome meticulously.
The only theory I have is that their primary target is Iran. There have been numerous reports suggesting Iran is advancing towards nuclear capability rapidly.Would not be surprised if they want to go to war with Iran before their nukes start working
They seem so hastened to start this war, possibly counting on US support to help them in a conflict against Iran. The question remains, how far would the US go to back them in such a scenario? This could potentially lead to one of the bloodiest conflicts in history if it happens.
