Many Maghrebis are closer to North Sudanis, Ethiopians and Eritreans than to Europeans and some Middle Easterners
Depends on which europeans. Maghrebis are closer to iberians and other med populations, then the levant arabia and then east africans. The only reason why they are close is because east africans have ancient eurasian ancestry. Maghrebis are only close to fellow med populations

A maghrebi will be close to all middle eastern populations and all southern european populations then east africans.

Some of the ancient levantine/Arabian they score could be from the proto-afroasiatics. The ancestors of the berbers expanded from the Nile Valey to the rest of North Africa and Egypt at that time was already Ancient Levantine admixed. It was deluded over the centuries as the proto-berbers kept mixing with other populations (Ancient North Africans, European Neolithic farmers, west Africans...) but was conserved amongst somalis for example who retained largely the initial Natufian-like component of proto-asiatics due to their isolation in the corner of the Horn

You can check fst distances for North Africans here and some of them are closer to Ethiopian Jews than to Meds and Bedouins.

That's very interesting. East Africans do share very old eurasian ancestry that's why they are linked. Maghrebis are not all the same. Some have quite high ssa which makes them closer to other populations. It depends really. Maghreb was a large place

Yes. Or it could be due to the countless empires which linked mena together. It could be carthage etc. We don't really know but it seems legit old levantine ancestry

The only real change was SSA from slave trade, it can reach up to 55 in the south
Wait i remember some of the samples in the canary islands guanches a close relative of the amazigh had some e-m132 haplogroups which is found in west africa?

Canary Islands are basically of amazigh origin but were seperated for thousands of years. It could be that they came from the south and had a west african ancestor. The maghrebis have always had trade links there. But generally speaking most maghrebis were coastal and being farmers only a minority were actually nomads that travelled. You can see previous amazigh kingdoms like numidia etc showing that

Some Maghrebis have significant iberian ancestry in the North of Morocco, i've seen some getting 30 iberian straight up. So it really depends. Maghrebis are made up of different components how much you get for each one depends

"Another study published in the journal Molecular Biology and Evolution in 2012 analyzed the genetic diversity of Berber populations in Morocco. The study found that Berbers in Morocco had a high degree of genetic diversity and were closely related to other North African populations, including Tunisians and Libyans. The study also found that Berbers had a significant amount of Eurasian ancestry, which is thought to have originated from ancient migrations from the Near East and Europe.

Overall, genetic studies suggest that Berbers are a highly diverse group with a complex genetic history. While Berbers are most closely related to other North African populations, they also have significant genetic contributions from other regions, reflecting the historical interactions between North Africa and neighboring regions."

"
Genetic studies have found that Berbers have a distinct genetic profile that sets them apart from other populations in North Africa and the Middle East. Berbers are characterized by a high frequency of certain genetic variants that are relatively rare in other populations, such as the R1b Y-chromosome haplogroup and the E-M81 and E-M78 haplogroups on the Y chromosome.

Berbers also have a high frequency of certain mitochondrial DNA haplogroups, such as U6 and M1, which are found almost exclusively in North Africa and are thought to have originated in the region.

While Berbers are genetically distinct from sub-Saharan Africans, they do share some genetic ancestry with populations from the Horn of Africa, such as the Cushitic-speaking peoples of Ethiopia and Somalia. This is thought to reflect ancient migrations and interactions between populations in the region.

Overall, the genetic diversity of Berbers reflects the complex history of North Africa, which has been shaped by migrations and cultural exchanges between populations from the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and sub-Saharan Africa over thousands of years." @Ibn Amer

North Africans have been studied a lot. Their base ancestry (Mesolithic N. African) is the same like the ones we have. The only difference is they acquired Early European Farmer ancestry. This EEF entered Africa from Southern Europe during the Neolithic while we acquired Proto Nilotic like ancestry.
