Again, this isn't really to do with AS becoming a more sane group, they may be slightly more sane today than they were under Godane, but this is primarily due to the inability of the FGS to actually administer anything outside of Xamar.

That would require a full blown mobilization of the FGS + Juubaland + Clans. This also doesn't even take into account dealing with other AS strongholds.

I don't feel like defending any "leader" in Somalia. They are all corrupt pieces of garbage that would sell their own women and children. I am merely noting that the only way to defeat AS is if all Somalis come together. At the very least everyone in the south. All clans, states, and the FGS need to put aside their differences and build an army based not on qabil and patronage, but merit. However that is a fiction.

That would just create more hardcore shababists. It might work as a short term solution but it will cause more problems in the long run. This is the thinking of the IDF sxb and how has that worked out for them?

We need to carry out a well-coordinated ground invasion and not bomb the city into oblivion which would cause high death counts among children and the elderly. If we do level Jilib to the ground, it will only create more AS sympathizers and that’s exactly what they want.
