Innocent somali man held against his will and tortured for 20 years in Denmark

Wow. That's a nightmare situation. I don't know why, but my father and uncles always used peddle these kind of rumours about healthcare in the West. My dad barely took stuff he was described and claims he doesn't need them. I used to arrogantly dismiss him as paranoid even though he had a background in healthcare before he moved to the West.

Wasn't there a case somewhere in the Netherlands or Germany where a farax unwittingly took part in a liver transplant

:ohhh:

?
What is this incident that he was supposedly framed for? This is something straight out of "one that flew over the cuckoo's nest" hopefully he gets released

Sick bastards! god knows what they did to the poor guy. I hope they can get an investigation to see if they were harvesting organs. They take advantage of you if you are a foreigner everywhere.

in 1998 when he was 15 he went to the hospital because he had some back problems instead of the hospital helping him they against his will gave him drugs and tortured him by all sorts of things for absolute no reason and till now he hasnt been freed and is still in the mental instituition

If he’s in a mental institution, it’s for his and the community’s benefits and a judicial process is always required for those sort of detentions as doctors can’t arbitrarily arrest a patient and keep him decades there. Denmark is a law abiding democratic country where a mental health patient has more Legal Rights & better care than one in Somalia. Therefore, this story doesn’t add up. Did they want a very sick (mentally) person be released to their care?

@sigmund Something doesn’t add up here, you can’t go to the hospital for back pain and be put into the loony bin, it doesn’t work like that.. the story sounds like one those WhatsApp stories I get from my aunties.

It doesnt matter whether it doesnt add up or not the poor man has lost 20 years of his life. Look at the pictures of him he looks weak and finished. You would rather speculate a tragedy than to trust your fellow people? your type make me sick.

No way you end up in a mental health hospital from a back pain. What do they get out of using tax payers money to keep him in a mental institute? He’s probably mentally ill, even so he has rights and his family need to take legal action.

@TheShinning

I’m just reading an article about the E.U Mental Health Laws called, ‘Social Inclussion and Fundemental Rights (Regulation For Self Detention)’ and to my surprise, Denmark has one of the lowest of the Involuntary placement of the mentally ill (only Portugal lower) while England has 10 fold and Germany couldn’t even calculate has the highest.

They can go to the Danish human rights organisation, Danish courts, European Human Rights Court or to the United Nations office For the protection of persons with mental illnesses. If it means they exhausted all these avenues, then the patient is seriously sick and needs complex and professional care. What happens if he’s released and harms himself or others? This story doesn’t add up.

Omer Hassan Sh Muse is a dual national of Somaliland and Denmark and while Mr Muse is technically a fugitive from justice and is still wanted by the Judicial Authorities of Denmark since 2012, turns out he is not very hard to find because he has actually been in prison in Somaliland since 2014.

Mr Muse is suspect in the murder of Jonas Thomsen Sekyere in Copenhagen in 2012, and it is important to note that he has not been convicted of a crime in Denmark.

Sitting in his cell in Hargeisa Central Jail, Mr Muse will readily admit that he is no angel and that he has had brushes with the law in Denmark where he grew up. He will also tell you that he has rediscovered his deep roots and connection with Somaliland and particularly Hargeisa where his great grand father Sheikh Muse Dualeh have lived since the 1800s.

@SirLancelLord

The Danish are bewildered why he was charged and convicted of a crime that he has committed in Denmark in another jurisdiction when they only asked for his extradition to Denmark to face those charges. Was it a sham trial by powerful relatives of his in Hargeisa, so he could be protected from the reach of the Danish authorities? Who asked them to hear the case and what witnesses gave evidence during the 20 minutes trial? Wy did the Somaliland court order a restitution of 33 camels to the victims family? Here is their side of the story.

Danish law student’s killer sentenced to 20 years and fined 33 camels

Court in Somalialand makes bizarre judgment following hastily held trial.

A Somali man has today been found guilty of murdering 21-year-old law student Jonas Sekyere in a Kødbyen nightclub in November 2012.

A court in Somalialand, an autonomous region of Somalia, sentenced Omer Hassan Sheik Muse to 20 years in prison and – rather bizarrely – ordered him to pay 33 camels to the victim’s family.

Two years in prison
Muse, 31, fled to Somalialand shortly after the murder and was then arrested there in 2014 for the crime following a tip-off to the Somalialand authorities from Danish journalists.

However, numerous attempts to extradite Muse failed, and it is believed his court case was brief and included little to no evidence.

Denmark asks Somaliland to extradite Bakken nightclub murder suspect.

Omar Hasan is wanted in connection with the 2012 murder of a 21-year-old law student at the Kødbyen nightclub.

The Danish government has issued a formal request to to Somaliland authorities to hand over a citizen suspected of a murder on Danish soil.

Omar Hasan, 29, is the prime suspect in the 2012 murder of Jonas Thomsen Sekyere, a 21-year-old law student. Sekyere was fatally stabbed at a popular nightclub, Bakken, in the meatpacking district, Kødbyen.

After committing the crime, Hasan fled the county and returned to his home in Somaliland, a self-declared independent state that is internationally recognised as an autonomous region of its neighbour Somalia.

Not so fast
“In mid-May 2013, we contacted the authorities in Somaliland, as our investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly stayed there," a deputy police inspector, Jens Møller Jensen, said in a press release.

"We have since been in constant dialogue with the authorities in Somaliland.”

Though there has been an international arrest warrant for Hasan since 2012, he wasn’t arrested in Somaliland until last month.

The Danish authorities are now working on an extradition trial, so they can bring Hasan to justice in a Danish court.

It seems this hastily arranged kangaroo court for Omar in Somaliland was to protect him by influential people in Hargeisa from extradition to Denmark to face justice there. If he has nothing to hide, he wouldn't have fled Denmark and faced the music there. We should support the rule of law and not clan killers.

Think you forgot the bit, where you have to applaud Somaliland (but I already know)

Mr. Muse was caught up between the Danish government’s demand to have him extradited to stand trial in Denmark for his alledged crime, and Somaliland’s constitution which BARS extradition of citizens for prosecution in foreign countries. An unintended consequence of his dual nationality.
