I literally know of Somalis that married Muslim Eritreans in my area. What I’m saying isn’t about Somalis or any particular ethnicity. Afars intermarry with Amharas a lot. That being said don’t believe these numbers too much, the Amhara and Tigray regions are a lot higher. Then there was another influx of them into Eritrea from 1930-1960 during colonisation. They can be a weird bunch. They are very keen on arabisation of Eritrea and unlike the other majority Muslim ethnic groups in Eritrea (Afar, Saho, Tigre etc) they seem to have a big portion of extremists amongst them who want to turn Eritrea into an Islamic Emirate.

Since they are outnumbered by Kebessa Christians 9:1, they claim to be a completely separate ethnic group to disassociate. If I’m completely honest there is some animosity (nothing serious though) between Jebs and a lot of other people. I probably should have elaborated earlier that the reason religion isn’t really a point of contention in Eritrea is because most of the freedom fighters were commies. They only cared about class and put everything else aside.
