Honestly we could break up and form our clan states because let's be real it seems like we can't cooperate and make the sacrifices required to form a nation state. However, the thing that makes me a nationalist and against the breakup of Somalia is the threat of Ethiopia next door with its supposedly 129 million population and their expansionist ambitions.

But clans are not as united as you think. They form temporary alliances because of external enemies and as soon as that “threat” is gone they turn on eachother and fight on a subclan level over resources, land, power etc etc.

Somalis don’t have a clan problem, we have a shitty elites problem. we’re currently just cawaans who are not led by sensible & morally upright ppl who can transform the culture for the better. Balkanization won't work because most regions in Somalia are too diverse to be ruled by a single clan.

I believe Somaliland will be recongized as it has become too useful to ignore.

If other useful states emerge from the chaos in Italian Somaliland they too can become recognized but if not then I think the remainder (Italian Somaliland) is just a case of containing and limiting the choas. They could start with a dual track policy for Puntland putting it on par with FGS and limiting FGS to southern Somalia.

If that gives motivation for a political settlement to be reached than that is probably best case scenario. Or if they don't reach a settlement the international community can just maintain status quo cheaply enough. I think Somaliland will be first could be the last though because I don't see a strong enough reason to recognize Puntland and they don't really want to leave Somalia.

There's no point balkanizing the rest of Somalia because there's no strategic benefit to anyone for doing that. There's no way the groups in the south would agree to it, the consensus there is it's game of thrones and winner takes all. That's all they seem to agree on as long as westerners are financing the game. If the westerners stop funding their game then the extremists will win everything which no one wants.

that's asinine, you should be shot for this suggestion. this would reignite Somalia's civil war fully. you would have clans fighting each other for borders. it would be zero sum and only the most united and strongest clan would benefit.

most reasonable course is a united somalia. I believe we should institutionalized xeer law. the first step would be turning all important odeys in any clan into govermant workers and giving them a salary. this way each of them would have incentive to maintain the system that pays them. and in turn there would be a government worker in each town in Somalia.
