The time where an arabic script might have been possible has long since passed. There might possibly be 1 or 2 changes to how somali is written. But the idea of switching scripts now is a joke. Besides look at turkish and malay they also switched to using latin scripts and neither of their scripts look more pleasing than ours.

Reading wise Arabic is more complementary, for two reasons that I know of one is the Arabic words are similar so less guess work and if your familiar with the words Arabic vowels are more comprehensive so less letters need = more beautiful
Also Latin was implemented during the Kancaan era due to lack of Arabic typewriters now that isn’t really a problem with digital writing
furthermore Arabic script was narrowly kept , using Latin was last minute decision

If the Japanese can use Chinese characters (Kanji) alongside two other native scripts , Katakana and Hiragana and still incorporate Romaji (Latin script) for modern uses, then Somalis can do the same.
We can embrace Wadaad and Osmaniya, revive cultural symbols like Sumaad as a form of logography, and still use Latin script for digital platforms, pronunciation aids, and international-facing signage or documentation.
The Arabic script and Osmaniya are both part of our national heritage, and there's no reason we can't preserve and promote them alongside practical tools like the Latin script.
Each writing system can have it's own role and function. But this would require national standardization.

Somali is not a language meant to be written but spoken. Our written language should be English and Arabic, languages with old scripts of their own. The Latin adaptation of Somali looks schizophrenic, and an Arabic script is unnecessary considering we can just write in Arabic
