I have a friend who is 29 and doing her residency. Four years ago, a family friend who proposed to her for marriage. I assumed it was for his son, since his son and my friend are around the same age bracket. However his son was already married. I told my friend that. She stated it wasn't for his son but for himself. When I heard that I was immediately enraged. This man is more than half a century years old, with several wives, and many kids.
How dare he propose to my precious friend who is in her prime, pretty, religious and well-educated? 
My friend rejected him. However he is still mentions it playfully to her relatives that he's still interested if she's willing. One of my friend's aunt got angry for the same reason as I did. My friend's aunt expressed concern about my friend's future in terms of marriage. She stated "If a man has prolonged interested in a woman, and makes dua to allah for success. There is a possibility allah may block off other men to answer his dua and eventually she will become calaf to him."
I was shocked. I had no idea that was possible! After a bit of thought, my anger turned to worry for my friend. I realized that oddly there is no other man that was interested in my friend. I started to believe that his old man is blocking her blessings.
Her aunt has advised her to read dua to protect herself from his interest.
Women, you need to start reading dua to protect yourselves from men you reject lest you become eventual calaf!
