If you look different enough, having the same skin tone kinda gets thrown by the wayside in favour of being considered separate from a certain group.
E.g, Filipinos, who look quite similar to East Asians like the Chinese but also look quite unique at the same time. They have enough of a presence in the US and worldwide to be considered a separate group, religiously and culturally. You won't see many people saying "You're Filipino right? Do you speak Mandarin?"
My point is that the more familiar people get with a group, the more clear an idea people will have of their "racial" standing.
In areas where there are loads of Somalis in the UK, the cadaans themselves if asked if they consider Somalis black will say no, they aren't, they're a different sort. In the future as Somalis become a more well-known group in the West it will go one of two ways; we will be considered black and assimilate with madows, or we will be considered a separate group. Perceptions can change. Back in the 90's when Somalis first started arriving in the UK, no-one considered them black due to how different they looked. It's only recently that perception started changing. It can easily go the other way again (but I don't think that will happen.)
????????? is u ok walalo is u good?
"
O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted." Allah him self acknowledges that he has made us all different and are from different tribes (nationalities , ethnicities) so if allah can acknowledge such 'petty' things I'm sure you can too.
the gif? i think sothats a guy???

True sxb, couple of years ago we wasn't perceived as "black", but now Madows have largely changed their stance in recent times. The problem is most Somalis don't want to be lumped with others just because of skin colour. It would best if we attain our census box as BLACK-SOMALI, just like how pakis have ASIAN-PAKI etc.If you look different enough, having the same skin tone kinda gets thrown by the wayside in favour of being considered separate from a certain group.

In a perfect world everyone would be viewed as their ethnicity and race wouldn't exist.
But unfortunately people have to categorise. It's unfortunate but it's just the way things are.
North Africa is more distinguished from the rest of Africa because the people that live there don't have anywhere near as dark a skin tone. But at the same time you will get people that say Tunisians and Egyptians are black because they are from Africa. People are confused, and race is frustratingly loosely defined by everyone. This guy considers me black, that other person doesn't, this person does, that person doesn't, why can't people decide? As a Somali we are just a complete anomaly and I hate it.

Well my tribe is Somali not British. I refuse to identify myself as British as long as i live! I do identify myself as a Muslim Somali however, much to the rage of the Kufar. I hope they choke on that there rage because I'm not identifying with them either through colour or place of residence.

They can't decide because we keep giving mixed messages. They would come across someone like me or you and we'd tell them what's up then some next xalimoo will come along with some Pan African, BLM, BS and their hard work would be reversed.![]()
You can make it a reality if you campaign for it & tell your fellow xalimos to redirect their energy from the BLM bs to this cause. That would be nice , it just not our reality![]()
I am not blessed enough for this matrimony560 camels

Somali alone is good mate , you can drop the muslim when describing your ethnicity , but you can bring back up when describing your religion![]()
Somalis are almost 100% muslim though, the "Muslim" bit is a little redundant.Hahaha why do you think of everything as a form to be filled in? I'm speaking purely of identity. Let me give you an example:
Bob asks: Hey, what are you?
I reply: I'm a Muslim Somali.
Understood?
Don't worry about that, I will know if it was worth the 560 camels after the first night of marriage :siilaanyosmile:Worth it
