Indians are considered pretty much their own race, it's synonymous with "South Asia". If people can distinguish specific parts of Asia like East and South, then what's so crazy about distinguishing the Horn of Africa from the rest of Africa? It'd save a lot of confusion and identity crisis.

That would be nice , but my point is this is an already occurring thing as in we are already considered black just black as nice as it would to get a likkle referendum going to pick what we can be called that isn't the case , can i also remind you that indians are significantly darker than arabs and are very different , whereas skin colour wise we are actually black or darker in hue , therefore no different to other black neighbouring countries.

I agree 100% with this. These racists are plotting to rob black people of their identity by lumping them all together! You know that racist remark they make "all black people look alike". Well we would be feeding that racist narrative if we all just identified ourselves as black without making any distinctions.

If you look different enough, having the same skin tone kinda gets thrown by the wayside in favour of being considered separate from a certain group.
E.g, Filipinos, who look quite similar to East Asians like the Chinese but also look quite unique at the same time. They have enough of a presence in the US and worldwide to be considered a separate group, religiously and culturally. You won't see many people saying "You're Filipino right? Do you speak Mandarin?"
My point is that the more familiar people get with a group, the more clear an idea people will have of their "racial" standing.
In areas where there are loads of Somalis in the UK, the cadaans themselves if asked if they consider Somalis black will say no, they aren't, they're a different sort. In the future as Somalis become a more well-known group in the West it will go one of two ways; we will be considered black and assimilate with madows, or we will be considered a separate group. Perceptions can change. Back in the 90's when Somalis first started arriving in the UK, no-one considered them black due to how different they looked. It's only recently that perception started changing. It can easily go the other way again (but I don't think that will happen.)

In a perfect world everyone would be viewed as their ethnicity and race wouldn't exist.
But unfortunately people have to categorise. It's unfortunate but it's just the way things are.
North Africa is more distinguished from the rest of Africa because the people that live there don't have anywhere near as dark a skin tone. But at the same time you will get people that say Tunisians and Egyptians are black because they are from Africa. People are confused, and race is frustratingly loosely defined by everyone. This guy considers me black, that other person doesn't, this person does, that person doesn't, why can't people decide? As a Somali we are just a complete anomaly and I hate it.
