How are public schools funded and who funds them? I had this discussion with an American guy who told me schools in America are funded by their local taxes and the poor areas will always struggle. Though governments here unnecessarily subsidies wealthy private (mostly religious schools) schools, funding for public primary and secondary schools comes from the federal governments and the States add to it, but it is funded on a formula of equal amount for each student regardless of the area that public school is located. Poorer areas attract more extra funding since they always lag the wealthier areas in outcomes. This is the benefits of socialism that the poor Americans were brainwashed to hate. We’ve a far-right government righ now (economically and socially) and there are two things that are sacrosanct to Australians that they can’t mess with it.
