I'm Somali and you are in denial if you think Ethiopia hasn't made any progress, while we Somalis were busy butchering one another. You are very emotive, therefore you should cease participating in this thread because I'm seriously worried for your health. Furthermore, this is only an idea that needs to be explored further and added into our conversations if we are serious about building a better and brighter future for all in the region because our security and stability is inter-connected and is a foundation for moving us all forward. Don't get a cardiac arrest over ideas that you abhor it, I mentioned in my initial post. Good luck sxb.

I am not emotional at all, half of time I am laughing here. The progress that you are talking about just started in 2007 after invasion of Somalia. They got forgiveness for their loans and new loans and aids started pouring at them. Wallah I heard from 3 ago from old Somali woman. Then, I double check her and could not believe how Ethiopia gets percentages from Mogadishu port, and now berbera port is next.

Forgive me sxb, that cracked me up. :ftw9nwa:

I will post the links soon

Sxb, you will find any link on social media that supports any argument. You posted above a link written by a website admin's opinion as a source to back your argument. Why bother with "fadhi ku dirrir" links? Check Dahir Calasow's website.

Comparing #UK aid to #Somalia & #Ethiopia for the period 2009-2016. 3x more for Ethiopia (always top 2 recipient) All these funds started pouring after Somalia invasion

Sxb, marka hore, I never said, Ethiopia and Kenya are friends of Somalia, ku laabo waxaan soo qorey, I admitted that there is enmity, mistrust and hostility and this idea of unity was supposed to be a panacea to overcome all that.

Tan labaad, you posted two videos, the one with the gentleman who produced opinions and his own graphs as sources for his argument, there are no documents, video or direct evidence supporting his thesis, waa ku tirri ku teen. It might work in maqaaxiyadaha and to a BBC/VOA ayaan ka maqley crowd. But not in this thread. Bring forth verifiable and quantifiable evidences.

As for Marwo Abraar, I'm confused of what her message was. On record, she blamed the Somali government that she worked for to be corrupt and funds being transferred to Dubai Banks by Somali government officials at the highest level and advised the global community not to trust the Somali government and hand them any funds whatsoever. On the other hand, she is complaining about the same global community by handing these resources to NGO's and mishandling it. She could be right on both cases, but it seemed to me, who does she want the funds to control? Herself? She admits money allocated to Somalia was $1.2 billion and she admits that projects worth of billions of dollars sprung up in Ethiopia and Kenya but claims the money allocated to Somalia was built on these new projects, how could $1.2 billions become billions of $$$? She was confusing. In conclusion, yes, there is massive corruption by Somalis and NGO's, but who is to blame? When she was head of the Central Bank, there were daily bombings in Mogadiscio and who on their right mind will open an embassy or a U.N office in Mogadiscio? When the U.N relocated their offices to Mogadiscio, there was a massive horrific bombing at the U.N compound and the target was the UNICEF workers who came to help build schools for children. Who is to blame?

You misunderstood the idea proposed on this thread, it's intention to establish a union is one of equals enshrined by law that delivers benefits in economics, social, security and progress for all its citizens. It has to counteract all the negativity that exists today. What you are proposing is the status-quo based on hatred, lack of security, never ending poverty, child mortality rates and a bleak future to remain. Get on board mate.

Let them share the pie with anyone not Tigray right now sxb

That is how the Brits, French and German viewed one another less than a century ago. Only if we can change attitudes and perceptions of one another and invest in understanding one another, then only, can we share even a bigger pie that could be enough for all of us. Lest we forget that.

Yeah, this is Africa mate.

We've yet to hit the industrial revolution.

The only union I would ever accept with Ethiopia is if all the Cushitic speaking people's formed a federal country with Somali (and possibly Oromo) being the lingua franca, the Capital being in Somalia and seat of Government.

The Cushites would push the xabashis back to the Northern coast of Eritrea, to their original Axum borders. This is their traditional territories before foreign intervention allowed them to essentially steal the entire of HOA except Somalia and Djibouti.

We don't share any culture/religion/social ties with them, we rather joined union with Egypt, Djibouti and Sudan than shitopia. At least with them we share positive historic relations, same culture and religion. Remember from dawn of history we were kingdom of kush, land of punt, ancient Egypt against Aksum.

Asxaabta

It is understandable that you become too emotional when you hear Ethiopia, but I hope that in the future, young Horn of Africans will explore this idea further and make it happen. We are sick of cyclic droughts that kills millions, being the global basket case, suffering children, millions perishing on the seas or being sold, raped on killed on their tahriib process. African solutions for African problems, we should swallow our pride. Enough is enough.
