Somalis have 1 million problems on the list and having more kids is pretty low down. Arguably, the small population is a positive thing right now. Imagine the devastation of drought and famine with a population of 90 million. The devastation would be unfathomable.

In my experience I have given a lot of support to family members who have had children before me .I mean so many weekends, entire month summer, emergency baby sitting..
Sadly for me, when I had my kids, theirs were grown up. And now nobody who I gave support to for decades, has given me any support back.
So I would tell my younger self, don't bother with the "community" support, enjoy your youth.
You increase education and more than likely a bigger population will be a positive thing.
Somalis are also very egalitarian with each other despite what most think.
Community like that doesn't work in the west. This place is more individualistic and that works better in the long run. If each family focuses on their own child and keeps them on the right path, we'll do much better. For all you know the community chief is a p£do and your neighbours eats bhakti meat

It is easier to educate a small population. The Bar ama baro scheme, a post colonial Somali literacy campaign, is a classic example. It wouldn't have worked nearly as well with a large population. It is also easier because you only need to create so many jobs. A big population is sometimes a positive but not for us right now.

Children are a blessing have as many as you wish and focus on being a good parent. Careers and travel fade, but family is what lasts. A home full of kids and grandkids is the real legacy.
China did it, they had close to 80% illiteracy just 70 to 80 years ago.

Who cares how much children they have. I don’t see it as a bad thing. Doesn’t the world have a problem of low birth rates anyway. People in the world transitioned from having thoughts to it’s good to have many children to support the family to it’s not smart and expensive to the future labor market won’t have enough workers to support the aging population.
So, who’s to tell anyone how much children they can or cannot have. Let the people decide. Islamically, children are a blessing so I don’t see more of them as a bad thing. I come from a family with five children. My mom raised us singled handily well. We are now getting to age where we can support our mom. Now she is blessed to have five children who will take care of her when she gets older. We were blessed to be alive. Looking at my siblings now I can’t imagine a world where they are not here and I can’t see them as a burden either.
In my opinion, governments should support their citizens to have more children. The fact some people are having a hard time making sure the children are fed well in a country that would benefit from having more children is a sin of the state and not the people. In other words, you should be more critical of the government and not the Somalis who have five plus children.
