Multiple, through waves in the operation during the morning loadouts. Basically I'm in charge of dispatchers, who are in turn, in charge of drivers. I've been doing the actual job since the end of January, but it was a stretch assignment to see if I can perform. I just got the official title todayCongratulations. Do you have to lead a team?

Nope. Since Amazon is a major corporation, these dispatchers actually work in other companies. I just oversee them. However, if they f*ck up, I do have the power to go to their bosses and express my concerns for their company's future. However, diplomacy and tact are important in these relationships. From my experience here (which was since Sept 2017), communicating with the future in mind is a much more effective way to be respected and have your authority cemented.I mean do they have to call in sick to you? Can you fire them/not extend their contract?

For example, if a driver calls in sick multiple times, I might jokingly say, "Damn, he sure does call in sick a lot." And they'd laugh, but know what I mean. And start making some calls on their end.
Though from the ppl I've seen come and go, being on a power trip doesn't take you very far in these types of settings.
Exactly.Definitely agree. It's a small world and never overplay your position. You should display authority without relying on hierarchy. We have outsourced almost everything but I am tasked to oversee the process and the budget. The key us to make them feel like they're part of your growth and not just suppliers.
Was your grandfather old cadaan dude by any chance?Like what my great grandfather use to say:
