We're nowhere near the Saudis, saaxib; our oil reserves are comparatively meagre -- until our biggest oil blocs (bloc B & E) come online. South Sudan is really poor, despite the wealth.

Mahr is such an hotly debated topic for no reason. There doesn't even need to be a debate to begin with. If a woman asks for a 100k USD mahr and a guy says it's too much, that's his right as he has his own budget and can look somewhere else. It would be too much for him. Likewise if a guy says he'll only give a mahr of 10K USD*, women who want high mahr shouldn't take it as a slight towards her, she can still search for her ideal higher earning man elsewhere.

I think the issue with you people is that you really want to standardize what constitutes as a too high mahr for the men or a too low mahr for the ladies, so you can rest easy knowing you have more options to chose from.

It's never going to happen. There's hundreds of millions of eligible men and women for you to choose from, anyway. Relax.

Exactly, n!ggers be stressing and arguing and talking too much about this mehr. If a woman gives an unreasonable mehr I'll say I'll think about it and ghost her move on to the next. Personally, anything more than 8-10 grand is ridiculous. Besides I only plan on marrying until I become relatively secure untill I'm making at least 6 figures.

I don’t see why this is a debate especially in the Somali community. Most men aren’t even that successful and their brides to be know this and only ask for like 5k anyway and the ones that get 10-20k Mehr or more are married to men who are richer.

Different tax brackets, different price ranges when it comes to Mehr. Trying to get all men to pay a uniform amount and shaming women who wouldn’t even ask you for a Mehr since they wouldn’t go for a man with your salary is stupid.

As I’ve always said, different strokes for different folks.

Ala! Where do you live that wedding halls are 3-4k? Ridiculous, even in my European area you could get married for 5-7k in total. Nothing broke, modesty is best. The lengths you ppl go for a simple guur is honestly woeful 😔
