Osmanya was created by a single person in the 19th century and went out of fashion very early on, it doesn't have the cultural or historical backing to be considered a real writing script. It's essentially the equivalent as tengwar.

It didn't go "out of fashion". It was used during the SYL years and only went out of use because the Kacaan Regime favoured the Latin Script.

I really wish Somalis had their own national script like Ethiopian ethnic groups do. instead we use boring old Latin. I would have spent my spare time studying how to read and write it. Kacaan wanted to use Latin script over these scripts unfortunately

That is because Latin typewriters were readily available
Arabic script was actually considered too, but there weren't enough type writers in Arabic then. For administration to be carried out so.....
Bureaucracy wins again

This is actually incorrect. The SYL newspaper in the 1950s used the Latin script and in the 1960s authorised a joint commission with UNESCO into picking the next Somali script.

The agreed upon script was Latin but it didn’t have enough support to pass parliament due to stiff religious criticism about not using the Arabic script.

Osmanya was never considered a serious contender in the race for Somalias next script.

I can provide sources for all this info.

Somali in Latin sounds retarded, I feel like an actual 4y/o writing paragraphs of it.

Should have used an Arabic-script

Wadaad script sucks.

Doesn’t matter if it does, most Somalis can read Arabic due to reading the Quran.

Whereas Latin literacy is at 50% and Osmanya is basically at 0%.

It’s about what is easier for majority of the population. Also Osmanya will be expensive to implement.
