i cant find the post about puntland adding two new letters to osmanya? someone help

Somalis should have adopted the Wadaad (Arabic) script since our scholars, wadaads and Pre-colonial elites have been using the Wadaad (Arabic) script to write the Somali language. The Wadaad (Arabic) script is actually historical and traditional to the Somali peninsula, unlike these other writing systems which were created in the colonial Era. Furthermore, with a standard Arabic script, it would enrich the Islamic heritage of Somalis and create a stronger cultural link with the Muslim world (especially the Arab world) since the Arabic script and language is a symbol of Islam’s rich heritage and civilization. The benefits of having the Wadaad (Arabic) script far outweighs the benefits of having Latin or any other colonial Era created script. We could just slightly modify it to make it more suitable to the Somali language, the same way Ottoman Turkish (who are unfortunately non-existent), Persian and Urdu speakers did with their scripts.

Doesn’t matter if it does, most Somalis can read Arabic due to reading the Quran.

Whereas Latin literacy is at 50% and Osmanya is basically at 0%.

It’s about what is easier for majority of the population. Also Osmanya will be expensive to implement.
arabic would be expensive to implement too. its tool late to change from latim, and it does the job perfectly fine. with arabic, we would need to add new letters and sounds like persian. we dont have to do that with latin

I agree, I have always said we should never change the script.

We have 10000000000 other problems to do with that money such as healthcare and food for the population.

However, if we’re comparing scripts by usefulness, the wadaad script is first imo.
