I never knew that until the guy in the video mentioned it. From what I gather the Tutsis are actually more Maasai shifted. And they look sort of similar. I think their inputs are probably more closely matched. They likely have South Cushitic admixture and have nothing to do with Eastern Cushites. I don't know why they do not claim to also have similar origins to Nilosaharan groups too. It would explain the body type. Being tall and very thin are very sought-after traits.

Oddly, enough I've seen Tutsis that have no Bantu admixture. They are indeed a confusing group. Given that most have E3a paternal lineages but there are some with E3b (South Cushitic branch though). Anyway, if they cluster closely with the Maasai then they probably have some Nilotic admixture. They are more Nilo than the Luo (who are more Bantu than Nilo and probably just swapped languages).

I'll run the models again sometime but they're basically 70-75% Cushitic (can be modeled as pretty much Somali, in fact) and the rest is a mix of Bantu, some Nilotic and SE African HG stuff like Pygmy and San type admixtures. The height to some extent most likely comes from South-Cushites who were remarkably tall based on the archaeological remains we have.

Aren't contemporary Cushites i.e Somalis rough 40-50% Proto-Nilo. No wonder Tutsis are clustering with Maasai. They have similar inputs.

Anyway, I never heard Dir claiming them plus they don't have a T haplo nor a Eastern Cushitic E3b subclade. But let them claim us. I don't care. At least they are thin and tall with sharp features.
