No idea tbh. The last few weeks/months hasn’t been good, hopefully there hasn’t been a change in policy from the American side because of these problems.
If we were in a similar situation back in January I would’ve been very hopeful but Shabaab fight has been very lacklustre since and it’s probably causing doubts

Lifting arms embargo will quicken the pace Al Shabaab are defeated. I just want Ceelbuur, West Hirshabelle and Southwest state to be cleansed from Shabaab especially bay and bakool so IDP’s can return to their homes and humanitarian aid can reach the vulnerable people there

Think you need 9 votes and avoid a veto, so far I’ve seen 5 support. Some are non-committal so I doubt it at this point. Better luck next time in November when it actually comes up for renewal
Watching for the last 20 minutes and the delegates have only talked about food aid, humanitarian crises, women's rights, rape and FGM, Climate Change, Renewing the ATMIS mandate, The ATMIS Uganda base attack and the Lascanood conflict. Nothing on the Arms Embargo even though HSM mentioned it in his opening speech

The US representative just spoke and they don't seem to be onboard with the removal of embargo 
The tweet you referenced is misleading. It doesn't say 'soon' anywhere, but rather that conditions (technical benchmarks) have to be met before lifting the sanctions, as outlined in the letter and mentioned again in the UN session.

US statement on the arms embargo is ‘we welcome Somalia’s continued progress on the benchmarks outlined in the UN’s Secretary Generals in September 2022 report in accessing it’s request for fully lifting the arms embargo on the federal government. We look forward to further progress and working closely with our partners on this issue when the 751 regime is renewed in November’

These UN sessions focused on Somalia is a constant reminder of our chapter 7 trusteeship. Somalia is bound to be violated at any given opportunity
The 'support' some countries have given Somalia thus far in removing the embargo seem to be pure lip service. I don't believe none of the things they say, which is just diplomatic words as 'allies'. After now listening to their concerns of the challenges facing Somalia; I doubt that they will lift the embargo in November either. It will require a miracle before it occurs

I have to agree. Even if AS were to be completely defeated, the sanctions would remain in place.
They were talking about Somalia having to become a 'unified state' with control along all of its sovereign territory, build institutions with capablity to meet the major challenges like droughts that Somalia currently relies on foreign aid, clan issues and so forth. All of which is almost impossible with corruption and no sincerity from all stakeholders in Somalia.
The real 'cunaqabateyn' is actually our internal mess
