I think people are overreacting a bit. This isn't colonialism, these Italians were ones who stuck around and were made legal citizens after 1960. The Somali republic never did any mass evictions or expulsions of Europeans like other African countries did after independence.

However what I want to see next is for other Somali property to be returned to fleeing families as well.

In their minds under him, Somalia is a obedient western adjacent country at the crossroads of world trade, and therefor more willing to give him what he wants as a show of good will and trust.
