We all know Deni is doing this for an extension till 2026. I am not making stuff up. He is expected to announce after the elections, saying we need more time (till 2026) to have 1m1v elections for PL president.

This isn’t about 1m1v, if it was just going to be used for council elections and then stick to them January 8th election, most of the opposition would not oppose.

Btw mideeye opposed the 5 party thing. So how can you say there was political consensus? There’s no public census of the population which is required in PL’s constitution to change it also.

I don't think he'll try an extension but he will try to hold parliamentary elections and form a coalition with other parties so he can stay for 2 years, because the other 4 parties will be against any extension but he can convince some of them to form a coalition and let them have the presidency after he leaves. I think that will be his goal.

Also you're mistaken, changing the number of parties doesn't require referendum or census, some articles of the constitution require that, e.g., the number of parliamentary seats.

Two more factors to bear in mind:
a) When all is said and done, PL Issims have far greater influence than Deni; he often disagrees, tries to go past them to his displeasure, runs rounds in circles sans going farther, but finally returns with his tail between his legs seeking their blessing. In SL, Guurti has been politicised, used as means to advance party politics, and are reduced to Saleebaan Gaal, who enjoys neither the influence of X Abdi Waraabe, nor the shrewdness of ina Sh Madar.

b) In SL, the 'i3ritaaf' stick has been misused on the public in rationalising extentions; this hardly applies in PL.

But on a national scale, I want to see puntland politicans subject themselves to us. May 15th Deni will bend his knee for HSM and I cannot wait. MJ galgala were our slaves 60 years ago and I want that to return to how it was but this time the chains will be worn in politics.
