When it is all said and done and people look back on this period in history they will come to the conlusion that there is only one person to blame for the loss of Somaliland.

He was handed an interesting card to play in the form of the Lasanod war and he managed to hedge his bets for a while and keep people guessing.

All that came crashing down in the Djibouti negotiations. Where just like in his offensives in Central Somalia and his recent Turkish defence pact he rushed and blundered. HSM is a rusher and not a strategic thinker. He took the SSc card and immediately slammed it down on the table thinking he had the winning hand to bring Somaliland under his grip.

Little did he know what Musa Bihi had in his hand. Musa Bihi played a card that has left him a gibbering, embarassed and confused on podiums and stages around the world.


If only he had taken his time and not spooked Musa Bihi, and continued to treat Somaliland like previous adminstrations then he might be in a considerably stronger position today.

Now he sold his country back to the colonial age and gained little advantage for it.

U can't violate another member state border this is agreed upon worldwide thru the United nation and continental and regional international bodies because it creates a knock on effect where no border is secure worldwide. Their is a rules based order and no state can violate it.

You forgot Saudi and Egypt from this equation and their positions, and both are US allies. Saudi back then were against your recognization (Egypt as well but their reasons are obvious) because they didn’t want Ethiopia and their handlers to further expand in the gulf and the red sea. I don’t know if their position had changed now but they did tell Eritrea few years ago to close the base of one of their competitors (I think it had to do with some military reasons in Yemen and them financing an opposing faction there not sure if that’s true tho)

the other thing is that abiy’s postion is not yet clear whether he’s pro-US or not, he recently joined BRICS, which has the two most nations America hates: Russia and China. (Saudi is part of BRICS too and they are trying to exit from the US hegemony, that’s why I said Saudi position is unclear)

So it all depends on those countries and how will they play their cards.

If puntland land is empty then why cant a larger Isaaq clan who is tied to a small land mass surely if your a large population u should have large real estate and muscle out langaab puntland not be holed up in a triangle of burco, hargeisa, berbera. Dude your not viable for any investment because your land is to small acrage wise for any oil reserves.
