majority of Somalis entered the US during the early 90s only a very few came around the 70s but it was mostly somali men that were sailors. UK also the same most arrived in the 90s. And yes one of the reasons why Eritreans get a slight pass is because of their religion I can promise you if they were muslim and wore jilbaab they would be ridiculed in the media the same way as us loolSome of us are not fobs either in the uk and us. The earliest of us arrived in the usa the same time as them.
They are christians at the end of the day, probably why they have better image than us and assimilate easily
And yes i have seen the challenges on the media, in 5-10 year time we will see

Birmingham, literally have not met a single eritrean christian. But then again its Birmingham so i wouldnt expect anything else...Where do you live? I cannot think of a place in the West I will be more likely to bump into a Muslim Eritrean than a Christian one, maybe parts of London, no idea
Then I have no idea then
Somalis are seen as trash. That is why I claim to be Eritrean in public. I always see aunties on public transport being absolutely embarrassement.
Cannot lie I'm guilty of this too sometimes, especially when random somali fobs come out of nowhere in public and ask me for help, I reply with I'm sudani or Eritrean.
Yes, Birmingham that's whyBirmingham, literally have not met a single eritrean christian. But then again its Birmingham so i wouldnt expect anything else...

there are a lot of turkeys and Moroccans where i live. But they don't face the same challenges as we do. 90% get benefits. The majority is divorced. Kids are taken from them. They don't know how to dress. You can see a Somali woman coming from 20 miles. The mismatch of the colors hurts my eyes wallahi.majority of Somalis entered the US during the early 90s only a very few came around the 70s but it was mostly somali men that were sailors. Somalis don't have an "image problem" where i'm from, so world wide isn't the correct term.
lol fair enough but its like every time your people is mentioned you magically teleport from your dinner table to being the main discussion person about "why are habesha people assimilating better than somalis" i bet you enjoy these type of threadsPlease tell me a thread where we have not been mentioned eventually.

Pathetic. At least claim British. If anyone dares enquire further tell them your awoowe was an indentured servant boy and his awoowe a bush caught somewhere in Africa because at this point he might as well have been.
Don't let me catch you talking gassed about Habar Awal, Yoonis or whatever Habar it is you are.
I request, nay demand the Isaaq coalition excommunicate you. @Duke of Bohol and any other representative, I'd like a formal clearing on this matter.

i think is because during the said Barre collapse most Somalis were displaced nomadic and turned wahabist (still to this day don't know how) so ofcourse shipping these sort of people with tribalist mentality to the west will bound clash with society. Not only will they refuse to assimilate with the rest but will wear whatever there mentality states e.g. Somalis wahabist mentality. Turks who came to the UK were already westernized so didn't find it difficult to settle since Turkey is in Europe.there are a lot of turkeys and Moroccans where i live.
