Side note: Somalis don't really have much of a reputation in the city I live in, and in my part of the city they're practically unknown, so they aren't hated everywhere lol.

I recognise this mentality, when I was a child I used to be embarassed of our people in all kinds of ways. As a consequence it's forced me to proactively try to improve myself so that I can break all generalizations of Somalis. Now it's a source of strength for me because none of those negative things apply to me, I only focus on the good parts of being Somali.

I don't understand these Somali girls who take negative comments about us to heart and have low self-esteem, instead of improving themselves and defending their identity.
