It wouldn't work completely but secularism would at least protect us from Wahabism and other forms of extremism. At least it would get us educated enough to get rid of the 68 IQ tag FFS. When illiteracy is still a big issue for the country 30 years on, that is a fucking travesty.Westernization could maybe work.
Our government is incredibly western in Djibouti, we have diversity of religion (many cadaan and xabashi) and young people here tend to be more open minded.
balkanizing Somalia will only bring problems because there will be land disputes, and Somalia are surrounded by enemies who have more manpower than them so staying united is the best option IF we want to have land or stay aliveWesternization could maybe work.

Yes people tend to believe that secularism and western ideas are alien to this land when the 30 years after independance were highly secular and socialist. It wouldn't work completely but secularism would at least protect us from Wahabism and other forms of extremism. Nigga if you want SL back. Give us the capital?By the way 10- 15 years is probably a more reasonable estimate.
We have to: defeat terroism, solve somaliland status either give them independence or not, solve Federal states status by creating a governement that truly controls the territory, have one man one vote elections.
This wil take some time, i could say we will be fine in 5 years but 10-15 years is the minimum we need to be 99% sure that we won't go back to civil war
It's very sad to picture this , if we don't find alternatives to root out the problems, anything to prevent being looped in these vicious cycles , thenLooks like another Afghanistan to me.
It is sad to see that a country with so much potential is barely relevant on the map.
Is balkanization better in your opinion?
I agree. Not to mention the brain drain and how most of Western born Somalis who go back (not all) go because they’re degenerates and have given their parents a hard time, or are criminals. The other Somalis who are from the diaspora go back and live a life of luxury that they couldn’t afford in the West.Big facts. How we supposed to fix a country our own parents have given up on and the ones that do go back facilitate the corruption and placate the al Shabab degenerates that have taken over parts of the country. Add in the identity crisis the diaspora generation faces and further add second-generation immigrants now have their own kids who will be further removed from the homeland.
That didn't stop them from calling Siad barre a gaal though because he had the sickening idea to say women and men are equal and everyone should be educated. Less about his genocidal tendencies though...Yes people tend to believe that secularism and western ideas are alien to this land when the 30 years after independance were highly secular and socialist.
I’ve thought the same thing. If this keeps going on, our land may not even belong to us anymore. It’s happened so many times in history. What makes us think that Somalis cannot be replaced and our land instead ends up in the hands of other people? (it’s beginning to happen). It's very sad to picture this , if we don't find alternatives to root out the problems, anything to prevent being looped in these vicious cycles , then
the foreseeable future , looks something dystopian , similar to what is happening to colonised natives/indigenous people worldwide , we may not witness the full effect of ceasing to exist in our lifetimes but our offspring's children's geberation are most likely to suffer from the consequences of our sheer falsified pride and arrogance, they are likely pay the ultimate price.
We may even die out as an ethnicity ,will only exist in the folklores or tales "once upon a time violent nomads lived in this area ,thank god they aren't alive today "
Becoming somewhat similar to the uncertain fate that occurred to the Harla people in Eastern Hararghe, looking back it was merely few centuries.
Today they only exist in tiny references in encyclopedia pages, no art , no literature , no pottery nothing to link that they once lived in the Horn of Africa.
Hararis are not the same as the people I have aforementioned for those who didn't know.
We may have everything that identified as a Somali erased.
These people react with emotions with actions never knowing their actions will be their demise one day.
I've said too much , I'll just end it here.
Balkanization will most likely end like those small arab states (Qatar, UAE, Koweit, Bahrein, Oman etc...) that keep on having disputes sometimes. But being united doesn't seem to work either.balkanizing Somalia will only bring problems because there will be land disputes, and Somalia are surrounded by enemies who have more manpower than them so staying united is the best option IF we want to have land or stay alive
No ceeb, no sense of pride, no consideration for the next generation of children who'll bear the Somali name, etc. no nothing! They're basically happy with being among the worst of the worst. And even then, Somalia is used as a token example for what a 'failed nation', in its worst state, is supposed to be.Like @AbdiS said, we’re complacent in being at the bottom and are too busy rationalizing it (”Oh, at least we’re not at 0% but we’re failing at 15% instead. Ya see? We’re doing great!”) It’s that level of denial that prohibits progress because we don’t even believe there’s an issue that needs fixing in the first place.
exactly and I'm sure if the south restore peace the north will automatically join usBalkanization will most likely end like those small arab states (Qatar, UAE, Koweit, Bahrein, Oman etc...) that keep on having disputes sometimes. But being united doesn't seem to work either.
isaaq would be like unuka leh Mogadishu after the deal
Yes he is the one who invented the somali alphabet at the end of the day and most systems we have in Somalia were created by him. That didn't stop them from calling Siad barre a gaal though because he had the sickening idea to say women and men are equal and everyone should be educated. Less about his genocidal tendencies though...
You know good and well those old niggas dont give a f*ck. Look at the president of djibouti. That nigga is the definition of a Somali politicianNo ceeb, no sense of pride, no consideration for the next generation of children who'll bear the Somali name, etc. no nothing! They're basically happy with being among the worst of the worst. And even then, Somalia is used as a token example for what a 'failed nation', in its worst state, is supposed to be.
If that doesn't make your skin crawl in shame and humiliation, then Walaahi I would question your state of being.
Hargeisa unaka lehisaaq would be like unka leh Mogadishu after the dealHawiye will take over bari
They don’t care. It’s a manifestation of how dysfunctional our family homes are. We’re messed up when it comes to high divorce rates, killings of Somali boys, etc and yet we turn around and expect our country to be civil? Calm? Stable? Yeah right. The same men who abandon their responsibilities want to tell you how they’ll run a country (aka, will you please turn a blind eye as they pocket the millions of AID money meant for the miskeen and buy multiple properties in Nairobi, Turkey and Dubai?).No ceeb, no sense of pride, no consideration for the next generation of children who'll bear the Somali name, etc. no nothing! They're basically happy with being among the worst of the worst. And even then, Somalia is used as a token example for what a 'failed nation', in its worst state, is supposed to be.
