Westernization could maybe work.
Our government is incredibly western in Djibouti, we have diversity of religion (many cadaan and xabashi) and young people here tend to be more open minded.

It wouldn't work completely but secularism would at least protect us from Wahabism and other forms of extremism. At least it would get us educated enough to get rid of the 68 IQ tag FFS. When illiteracy is still a big issue for the country 30 years on, that is a fucking travesty.

balkanizing Somalia will only bring problems because there will be land disputes, and Somalia are surrounded by enemies who have more manpower than them so staying united is the best option IF we want to have land or stay alive

By the way 10- 15 years is probably a more reasonable estimate.
We have to: defeat terroism, solve somaliland status either give them independence or not, solve Federal states status by creating a governement that truly controls the territory, have one man one vote elections.
This wil take some time, i could say we will be fine in 5 years but 10-15 years is the minimum we need to be 99% sure that we won't go back to civil war

It is sad to see that a country with so much potential is barely relevant on the map.

It's very sad to picture this , if we don't find alternatives to root out the problems, anything to prevent being looped in these vicious cycles , then
the foreseeable future , looks something dystopian , similar to what is happening to colonised natives/indigenous people worldwide , we may not witness the full effect of ceasing to exist in our lifetimes but our offspring's children's generation are most likely to suffer from the consequences of our sheer falsified pride and arrogance, they are likely pay the ultimate price.

We may even die out as an ethnicity ,will only exist in the folklores or tales "once upon a time violent nomads lived in this area ,thank god they aren't alive today "

Becoming somewhat similar to the uncertain fate that occurred to the Harla people in Eastern Hararghe, looking back it was merely few centuries.

Today they only exist in tiny references in encyclopedia pages, no art , no literature , no pottery nothing to link that they once lived in the Horn of Africa.
Hararis are not the same as the people I have aforementioned for those who didn't know.

We may have everything that identified as a Somali erased.

Big facts. How we supposed to fix a country our own parents have given up on and the ones that do go back facilitate the corruption and placate the al Shabab degenerates that have taken over parts of the country. Add in the identity crisis the diaspora generation faces and further add second-generation immigrants now have their own kids who will be further removed from the homeland.

I agree. Not to mention the brain drain and how most of Western born Somalis who go back (not all) go because they’re degenerates and have given their parents a hard time, or are criminals. The other Somalis who are from the diaspora go back and live a life of luxury that they couldn’t afford in the West.

There are people who want stability, namely those who have remained in Somalia since the civil war. But they’re the minority and the government doesn’t reflect their voices.

I’ve thought the same thing. If this keeps going on, our land may not even belong to us anymore. It’s happened so many times in history. What makes us think that Somalis cannot be replaced and our land instead ends up in the hands of other people? (it’s beginning to happen).

Balkanization will most likely end like those small arab states (Qatar, UAE, Koweit, Bahrein, Oman etc...) that keep on having disputes sometimes. But being united doesn't seem to work either.

Yes he is the one who invented the somali alphabet at the end of the day and most systems we have in Somalia were created by him.
Only the people living now call him gaal, I don't think those hijabless women in the 1970's and 1980's were calling him gaal. So it has something to do with our current mentality today which is extremely bad.

They don’t care. It’s a manifestation of how dysfunctional our family homes are. We’re messed up when it comes to high divorce rates, killings of Somali boys, etc and yet we turn around and expect our country to be civil? Calm? Stable? Yeah right.
