The problem is mainly due to af somali not being written and words not being updated. For example xeer could mean law in af Somali but we instead have Arabic word for it. Languages need to be updated just like hardware or it will die out.
100% walal. Try read the current Somali dictionary and you will see how bad things are. Words are not updated or reinforced. There is also the false belief of mixing Arabic and replacing Somali words which is also a cancer.

With Germanic and Latin languages, the Latin script is very ideal but not for semitic or cushitic languages. There are several problems that have compounded to the point we have exams in English in Somalia. Somalis back home always say that "Af Soomaali waa luuqad jirto laakiin cilmiigaa maadiigaa maa kuuficnoo". Look at how long and unprofessional this looks but no one there can seem to address it.

I would understand having stem exams in english or chinese, but they had history exam in english and arabic which the somali language is more than capable of holding. They don't understand that it's their task to nurture their own language instead of saying nonsense like "Af Soomaali waa luuqad jirto laakiin cilmiigaa maadiigaa maa kuuficnoo". There should be af somali committee tasked with with updating and handling the somali language so words like balse and irid dont get replaced with laakiin and albaab.

Somali is nearly impossible for a non-Somali to learn, as it's something you just have to grow up with to actually understand it.
