How does the Ethiopian dam effect Somalia?

As a downstream country it will affect water volume and decrease the demand for oil within the region. It needs to go, they're already underway with two other dams on Somali rivers. And when they sell to you it'll be like buying your own shit, f*ck that bro

We won't have to lift a finger. If it really affects egypt they will have no choice but to have a long bloody war with ethiopia and their army is more powerful than us kenya or any other country that shares a river with them altogether.

However if @xabashi is right and abiy will ensure that the rivers are not filled up too quickly and well managed so as not to disrupt the farming practices of those downstream countries, then all will go well.

If thye screw it up with egypt then no one else will have to fight them and i predict a civil war after such a loss if they do lose much like the 77 ogaden war that led to our civil war.

Even if Ethiopia is reasonable Egypt still won’t allow it. They pride themselves with the nile and they need it for many different things. Being at the mercy of ethiopia is not something they want.

Would you let your neighbor have full control over your electricity and plumbing even if they promise not to abuse it?

If it effects us then that means we will be completely at their mercy. We won’t lift a finger because we can’t defeat them today. Let’s be honest.

If I was farmajo I would be fully siding with Sudan and Egypt. Men take risks and make their motifs clear. This guy misunderstands what it means to be neutral. Somalia being neutral with Ethiopia is like being neutral with your neighbor who bangs your wife. It is stupid!

Farmaajo’s project is based on integration in the Horn of Africa . So open borders , economic integration etc. Anything that benefits Ethiopia benefits Somalia in his eyes. He seems to think Somalia having natural resources and Ethiopia the man power or human capital is an equitable deal. He doesn’t understand geopolitics and needs to go ASAP

He is making decisions on ideal and perfect relations with Ethiopia. He doesn’t take into account what could happen if we went to war with them again in the future which I think will happen and not because of us because of them. They will force Somalia to fight for its sovereignty. They are trying to own us between this project and their soldiers in our soil and their long held desires of controlling the sea.

If you are referring to the GERD dam, then it has nothing to do with Somalia. It won't affect it except Somalia may get cheap electricity if things go well.

Just for general knowledge: hydro dams are not water consuming projects. The dams have a limited capacity and once it is filled the water starts flowing its natural path. In fact the water MUST flow from the dam to be able to produce electricity. The idea that hydro electric power will dry up rivers is pure propaganda.
