This is actually something Hitler of all people wanted to institute. He wanted to destroy the USSR economic and manufacturing power only leaving a rag tag group of 'partisan forces in the area mid way betweeen Vladivostok and Siberia. He would send young Germany soldiers there for years at a time to train and live in these conditions strengthing into 'super commandos' and far superior and rigid then 'draft' urban soldiers. That's why I've always advocated for young mx men who are from urban centers to train in Baadiyo somewhere just for this purpose let them receive their training there for about 9 months, standard training. It will turn them into real soldiers instead of the waving their arms around yelling 'HOY' and marching with little to none firearm training. I want to get a written account from someone like Gen Bixi about how they did training back during Siyaad era and improve and modernize to today instead of sending them to a foreign country.

Im not sure if it's true but I read somewhere putin is using 'hardened criminals' from jail on his warfront, if coupled with sound strategy-execution plan-set objectives for the different squads, calculating the war expense on a timed schedule, doing set drills before execution thru role play, boosting morale of his soldiers on why their fighting and reminding them of the edge they have over the 'soft urban soldiery' of ukraine.

Yes he allowed Wagner PMC to recruit from prisoners in Siberia. These people have been surviving cold and callous conditions. That's the only hope urbanites have pray 4 large prison population reward them 'pardons' on the condition they fight like warriors till the end, that is good incentive. @Somali Ugaas If I was PL president i would also look to ensure keeping the 'weight' on the soldier limited. Other then bullet proof vests, helmets, and ammo caches, I would scrap the rest. U add 'speed' factor. I would also change their uniforms to traditional 'somali warrior' becuz the conditions do not warrant for european attire, the other problem is they won't know who is who on the battle field too.

This strategy is best used by Russia with some of there generals and minister of defense being from harsh places.

I know desert soldier grade is an edge over urban or farmer grade, we saw it in 91 with HG in the south, it's undisputable. If u couple knowledgable general(study many wars, ancient texts, plus reviewing his own previous wars or others in the nation) with a strategy, timetable, drills n testing scenarios, if u add all that together, their unstoppable. The other problem with prison population is their concentrated in prison, they were already small supply pool but even risker if enemy 'eliminates the prison thru airstrikes'

I wish I was there in Laaska to inspect the theater, supply routes, gather intel on the structure and weaponry, grade it(high importance to medium to low) then do the plans into smaller objectives to different squads, drill test them thru role play scenario predicting enemy response, equipping soldiers with plan b if A doesnt work. HG aren’t unstoppable it’s just there good at urban warfare and they had an advantage since Siad barre stored all the heavy weapons in galgadud.

Ask guys who fought for SNF and Morgan/MX it took a combined USC and SPM to push SNF back into the Jubbas.

Siyad poor guy only had dhulos/marehan fighting two theaters north/south plus the ussr collapsed same time ironically but he cut ties with em beforee that, his supply corridor was running on whatever was left in the nation.
