Some people claim that he took over Harakat- Raskamboni from Hassan Turki since he was his son-in-law. Hassan Turki came down with diabetes in the autumn of 2009 and he was succeeded by the current President of Jubaland. The current president of Jubaland chose his clan over the terrorist group Al-shabaab and moved the entire group towards clanism than Islam. This power struggle led to the famous October 2009 battle whereby Al-shabaab defeated Raskamboni & Anole and took over. The expected reinforcement from the allies (Hisbul-Islam) did not send any thus cemented the new reality on the ground.
