jalle siad arrested mohamed aden sheikh.
True. Jaale Siyaad was against anyone who opposed him because he believed the opposition would destroy the country which eventually happened. He unfortunately arrested many good patriots who were marexaan or from other qabilis because of this paranoid fear of dissidents

my list of the Best periods from best to worse
1960-1969 because we had democracy
1969- 1977 because we had stability
1977-1990 because we still had a governement even though Siad was becoming brutal
1950-1960 because we had stability even though we were colonized
2010-2021 because we started getting better despite still being a mess
1991-2010 worse period because we had chaos

I would put 1950-1960 third. We were UN controlled and had elections during this period.

Furthermore, Somalia was one of the most developed areas in Sub-saharan Africa during this period.

horrible time. one of the most humiliating times for somalis. even more humiliating than the 90s. possibly the worst decade of the 20th century for somalis.

but ask yourself this, would any of it have happened if he stepped aside long before things got to that point?

everything that happened was his fault.

@Mckenzie come in we need ur analysis

Cold War countries were moving away from backward socialism and needed reform, if Afweyne wanted to save the country he could have done so in 1983 when the valuto system was gaining strength, all he needed to do was introduce a free market.

Another alarm was the infighting for the seat between his two wives Bah after his injury and a third group led by Samatar and Dafle, Afweyne recovered and demoted Samatar to basically say you'll never succeed me, but was the brains behind the Kacaan.

I agree He is partially to blame because he didn't resign but the opposition (especially USC) acted irrationally and kept destroying everything even when siad was gone.
We can blame Siad for any mistake he made between 1969 or 1992 but anything after that isn't his fault.
The anti kacaan folks had 3 decades to come up with a better system and they failed

He did introduce free market in the 80s once he became a US ally.
Somalia was pushed into taking loans from the IMF which also worsened the economy

he's still to blame, even for post 92 massacres. none of it would happen if he stopped clinging to power and moved on in the mid 80s.

the warlords are still to blame, but old man also shares the blame.

i'd go as far as say, things that are happening today are partly his fault.
