When I look through history and old archival articles, it’s the same story with every immigrant group. They all went through this cycle of being stigmatized, stereotyped, and even internalizing some of that negativity. The only real difference with Somalis is that we’re a more recent community, so we’re still in that stage of re-establishing ourselves. Other groups eventually grew out of it as immigration slowed and their second generations moved up the social ladder.

So I wouldn’t worry too much , it will pass. There isn’t any major new influx of Somalis, and the younger generation is already graduating, entering professional fields, and moving away from deprived areas. Once that shift happens, it becomes harder for people to hold onto the same old perceptions and “stats” that get thrown around today.

So the total crime committed by say Afghan's across multiple years is 89 across not a single year, for a population of 50.000 in London , each year it is 10-17, even as low as 6. This is using the same data btw without the manipulation.

You can apply this to every other migrant group on the list, even Somalis, which i will do soon enough and even Eritreans , i'm sure our fellow @EritreanPost_ would be very pleased to learn about this since they constantly mention Afghans and Eritreans as the main culprits of crime based on this false manipulated data.

They picked out one ethnic guy in the list and blew him up allow over news media and ignored the rest:

Aren't the majority of Somalis in the UK like under the age of 20 or something? How can kids be responsible for a large amounts of crime when you factor that Somalis are not that big of a population in the entirely of the UK (170k)

Very true. I pointed this out to AbdiFreedom some time ago that the revolving door of immigrants actually subsidize their welfare system in Canada while at the same time them not having direct access to it. At the time they blamed immigrants for the housing crisis when it was rich property speculators at fault.

In America the biggest job creators are actually immigrants as well and they depend on them across the health sector, construction, agriculture and even tech.

Check this video out as well, this one is arguably better because it attacks it from every angle. But the historical trajectory angle was the most interesting to me. But he begins to point out this not new, people had the same arguments decades ago and when the economy goes south due to their own governments failed policies they just scapegoat migrants:

What’s funny is that every UK administration has tried to be “tough” on immigration and everything they’ve done has just backfired on them.

One of the most eye-opening points he makes is about Moroccan immigration to Spain. It actually shot up because of Spain’s restrictive policies.

Before, many Moroccans would come seasonally for work and then return home. They rarely settled permanently. But once Spain tightened its immigration policies, it pushed them to stay and seek citizenship instead of going back.

He also shows how something similar happened in the UK during the 1970s , when the country opened itself to the Commonwealth, net migration was actually lower than in later decades under stricter policies.

Another key point he raises is that the UK government hasn’t invested in vocational or technical training to build a higher-skilled domestic workforce. On top of that, low wages for construction and labour jobs (partly due to weakened trade unions) have led companies to hire migrant workers at lower pay. It’s all rooted in neoliberal capitalist policies, not just immigration.

But seriously , watch the whole video and check out the channel, he approaches socio-economic topics especially about the UK with a historical angle.

The increase in migration by boat actually came as a result of the UK’s Brexit push. They pushed hard for Brexit believing it would stop immigration but it backfired.

Before Brexit, the UK had cooperative agreements with France that allowed for more coordinated processing and management of asylum seekers and migrants. Many would enter through France in a more controlled way, so the situation was far more manageable.

Once Brexit ended that cooperation, people lost the legal pathways and support systems that previously existed , so more of them resorted to dangerous boat crossings instead.
