Notice how there’s virtually no trees on the horizon.
There was a tree planting few months back in Galmudug and pretty sure trees will be planted. The guys who are building this road are locals and they will sure plant some trees.

The people back home don’t understand the importance of trees that is why everyone cut them down for dhuxul.

Axmed madoobe is doing that in the jubooyinka hopefully jubooyinka don’t go deserts.

There should be national planting day or state planting day.

Livestock is the biggest threat to tree planting.

If you build fences around tree planting zones, someone will take the shortcut through and graze his camels through the area.

It's a great start, and it is impressive if it is the locals alone that were behind this feat. This will definitely save some lives.

That being said, there is still a long way to go until it becomes a highway. It needs to be paved, it needs to graded, drainage ditches must be provided on the sides, and it has to be designed geometrically so you can safely go through turns at speed. They will need to construct many culverts where the road cross a stream, and a number of embankments where necessary (I they built some embankments already). For now it will be easily navigable by all sorts of vehicles, including the large trucks the mentioned in the video. This is only possible for during the dry seasons only.

I doubt this stretch of road goes all the way to Hobyo as you suggested though. I believe the reporter send it goes until a town near hobyo? Correct me if I am wrong.

It's good to see they have some decent plant. They have a grader, two rollers, a dozer with a ripper attachment, and a front end a loader. However they will need an excavator with a hammer attachment, a ripper attachment, and buckets for trenching and separating rock from the other materials. Maybe a 50 tonner like this one.
