Why does it say “zeila” in the middle of DDS?

wasn’t Zeila capital of Adal? And Adal rules DDS idk why it says Zeila right there when the port of Zeila is accurately mapped where it’s really at. I think it just says Zeila because that was the main area of commerce along with Berbera for DDS especially and pretty much a vast area besides that

“The desert coast which produced little else than herds of wild beasts”:pachah1:

conveniently covering all of galdmudug all down south where another horde of wild beasts are found kkk

and what’s that off to the side “Negro’s bay” ?:russ:

Let's keep it real, 90% of Somali territory above the 2 rivers are deserts full of wild beasts :umad:

Negro's bay must be an ancient slave trade port or a misdemeanor of European geography. Bantus can't survive in the harshness of that inland north central terrain nor have any tradition of early settlement above Xamar.

Zeila, Mogadishu and at times, Berbera, were the biggest towns in the land. They would have operated as a zone or a district state using their own laws, currency etc.

true. These are the most important cities in Somali history tbh. Modern cities (except for Zeila) except back in the day operates as way more than just a trading post. I would agree they were more like zones or districts back in the day

Bantus migrated South from the North some passing through Somalia, Ethiopia and Sudan. Bantus are also found in deserts and semi deserts such as the Kalahari and the Namib...The Himba/Herero People.
