They're not liberal but if you live in a city with Arabs/Asians you'll see that many don't wear the hijab.
Somalis are more conservative when it comes to hijab and other things but our culture is far more liberal as a whole. Honour killings and forced marriages aren't a thing in our community.

Lets see one side of the story is saying , when wearing the hijab know that you are representing not only you're faith but brethren in that faith as well , so stop shouting and being loud because that hijab is not just a symbol of a god fearing woman its also a symbol that you are a woman whose values are that of modesty and sharaf. More than ever even non muslims have noticed. saying things like " if the hijab represents modesty as you say why wear tons of makeup doesn't that contradict your values... stupid muslamics"
On the other side others say ,to each woman her own , i mean is it fair to say every femnazi represents all women , every white supremicist represents all white people , every Islamic terrorist represent muslims therefore not every sinful hijabi represents muslimahs or muslims of that matter. Also not every muslimah wears the hijab to please god others wear it for cultural reasons.
we can't police everyone the best we can do is advice one another and educate our sisters about the importance of the hijab at the same time the brothers need to be realistic and stop acting high and mighty about "take it off if....." you don't have that right so lets not give ourselves a high blood pressure.

Hijab for the average Muslim woman is like a second skin, it doesn't help you act any certain type of way. In fact, since most ppl wear it from elementary school, it isn't a conscious, pious decision that informs their every move from there on out as it would be for someone that started intentionally wearing it in adulthood. Most are like the average person in their class except they happen to have a hijab on their head. Talk less of the guys, which are the same, but it's not like they're considered 'ambassadors' for any damn thing.
