In many under developed societies, protecting women and making as many kids as possible is seen as the main task of the society. Many somalis seem to be in this stage. Hence the outrage of many about Xalimos marrying outside. In a more sophisticated and modern societies, carriers and pursuing personal happiness is viewed more important, so as long as the girl lives a happier life, it is all well. Women are also not seen as a property of the society that need protection from their own preferences. Women are seen as adults who can pursue her own dreams and achieve whatever she dreams. She is not expected to sacrifice her love and preferences and happiness in life for the sake of the society.
