Basically what hsm is doing is increasing the term a president rules the country while farmajoo is different.

I remember a long time ago when farmajoo was president I was in a space with HSM he told all of us in the space that he is planning to extend the presidential year from 4 to 5 years when he becomes president, and when we asked him why he said a president ruling in somalia is to short for them to fix the country in those kind of years

I’m surprised people aren’t aware of this. It was clear he was planning this before his election, talked about it many times in his speeches. Presidential term is too short and PM should be sackable by President without parliament. These two things will create a lot of stability.

It makes sense to harmonise the FGS and FMS terms now that all the FMS have increased their term lengths to 5 years.

Madoobe wants to run again despite him already having multiple terms. So there’s no respect for the constitution among FMS. FMS have two term limits unlike Somalia Presidency which is unlimited.

HSM will need the extra year for direct elections and also to have the FMS elections all happen at once. Regardless what’s a year extra. We can fight Shabaab in the meantime and start investing after debt relief in 2024-27. 4 years is too short

If Presidents served for a term of five years and the length of the term is changed to six years. The term was not extended but the initial length of the term was changed. From now on every president serves six years. But if the term is extended with one year, only the incumbent serves for six years.

This move should be done at the start of the term so it is not confused with simple therm extension. In this scenario what is being changed are the laws.

SH Sharif and Kheyre will be against this besides PL and whoever joins the opposition
The other factor is if he controls the security and will not depand on ATMIS and Xalane he can get away with it

all i know is that he wants to change all the current southern FMS leaders in his second year and install his new allies so they can stay after the elections to make sure they can help him but if he stays after them he won't have chance so in his second year he has to do dagaal saf mar ah against the current ones.

Constitution will be completed in this year so early extension is possibile if they change the presidents term from 4 to 5 years than the parliament will vote for it.
