Somaliland wasn't truly an independent state, it came to be under the agreement that it would unite with the South upon independence that was its entire purpose.

Complete and utter BS. You people do love to completely rewrite history to suit your moronic Somaliweyn fantasy.

Somaliland Independence initially had absolutely ZERO to do with Somalia. It was an outgrowth of the fact that Britain knew after 1945 that it no longer would be able to keep its colonies in the post-war era. It started to prepare Somaliland for independence as early as 1950, as it did with the vast majority of its colonies in Africa and Asia.

It is true that Britain did eventually encourage union with Somalia, at the urging of the Americans. There was a host of geo-political reasons for that.

There was a vote in Somaliland amongst the political parties of Somaliland at the time, about whether to unite with Somalia or to remain independent. If Somaliland had chosen independence, there would have been no one getting in its way. Such a vote would not have been held, if it was a condition of Somaliland's independence that it unites with Somalia. The Dhulbahante Chief Garaad was actually a strong voice of the pro-independence argument but the pro-union vote won out, as the jahiilnimo of our people at the time made them buy into the retarded Somaliweyn fantasy.

So you're saying you chose to be united with konfur under your own terms, whatever it is won't change that the Union still exists and the whole world sees 1 Somalia rather than 2.

As for the Dhulbahante Garaad idk why you'd say that the populace of Harti were against the Union when the 2nd biggest party(Dhulo, Samaroon, Warsan) was literally called United Somali Party.

Happy 26th of June, The first day our blessed blue flag was raised on land that belongs to Somalia, whether that be north Somalia or south Somalia

Such a moronic statement. Read a book or two on this matter before spouting this level of ignorance.

It is a well established fact that Garaad Jama was against the union and wanted Somaliland to have a period of independence in which the matter of a union was discussed and reviewed but he was outvoted.
