Theres afew business owners- 1 is a lovely Somali restaurant - opened by my brothers friend. But as a whole theyre the laziest & least educated here. we shouldn't there be some Italians there? They've been apart of Eritrea since 1885. Mostly Asmara which is Christian like them. By 1910 Eritrea had the highest quality of life on the entire continent. Together with Eritreans - homes, schools, shopping malls, universities, hospitals, cafes & movie theatres. Boosted the economy with agriculture, textiles, food exporting, infrastructure & established a democratic government. With Eritreans in high ranking positions in most industries. Till this day you speak to anbolder Eritrean, they praise the Italians & despise Ethiopia. They've continued to slaughter them even after their independence. Talking about we have no Italians- yeah thats why Somalia is still a mess. Famine, hut style homes, tribal wars, no value for education, art or fashion. But they came & made Asmara home, intermarried with the Christian eritreans, learned our language/culture. And whilst you were starving with dirt roads & constant tribal wars. Eritrea had the highest quality of life in all of Africa by 1910. Living in modern villas, al carte dinning & had some of the best universities. Part of the reason my dad was able to become the sucessful doctor he is now. Honey, We werent enslaved or oppressed. This is why Italians & Eritreans back home still have a mutual respect.
