I had a dream last night; something told me to become a doctor.

idk if this is my calling in life but I'm squeamish, and the taught of blood and poking people with needles is disturbing.

To this day, I have to squint my eyes and look away when I have blood drawn. I know, I am a pussy

Furthermore, I'll be neck deep in debt if i switch to medicine. I'm sure it'll be worth it if I become a doctor but there's no guarantee of that

I can finish my current degree in 2 years and enter the work field right away, or i can switch to medicine which will take much longer and cost much more.

I'm not really passionate about either careers and my only concern is with money and whether someone like me can be a doctor. Tbh, I kinda fancy wearing a white coat and acting like the shit

Should I go for medicine, and do you think I'll get use to poking people with needles?

The restricted time is the only downside to being a doctor. There is more freedom in tech in that regard but job security is lacking to say the least.

Why not pursue it sxb ,if that particular field motivated you to pursue in that degree what is stopping you from achieving your ambitions whatever you have in mind make sure you have whatever it takes to fulfill regardless of your circumstances , if you're comfortable enough around that environment poking syringes into people, making this world a better place.

its true that dreams can be compelling I also dreamt of becoming an Astronaut when I was younger , if I had the resources I would be studying Astronomy who knows I could have been the first geeljire in a Space shuttle unfortunately I do commercial which is a necessity to make ends meet tbh I was never fond of it
you must be strong enough to eliminate the phobias,fears and sensitivity and be compassionate about what you're currently studying in depth in order to embark on that path , any career will benefit you it's only if you have the guts , will to pursue your future career and that my friend you will that you've accomplished something in your life

Thanks for the serious and thoughtful words of advice. The only thing stopping me from pursuing a career in medicine is my fear of needles, which really isn't serious enough to call it a phobia. It's just laziness on my end and I know if I face it head on, I'll be able to overcome it. Additionally, money is also a concern but with low interest loans and fafsa, I'm sure it'll be enough to put me through most of if not all of my schooling. And after that, it's just a matter of paying it all back, which shouldn't be an issue when I start making that doctor money.

My current degree really isn't all that bad, the money is good, and I have a real knack for programming but I was only in it for the money. However, with my recurring dreams of grandiose doctor life, I think that's where my passion lies. I have most of the pre reqs for med school all done and all that's left to do is complete off a couple of science courses, and I should be in med school by next year. Hopefully.
