Governor of Hiiraan Ali Jeyte Osman is probably one of the few politicians who stood up against NGO’s whom enrich themselves in the suffering of the Somali people. No more in Hiiraan!

Beledweyne does not need NGO hand outs, it needs infrastructure that eliminate the flood of the city.

It doesn’t need charitable donations (hand soap & food) from a non-governmental organisation (NGO), it needs INFRASTRUCTURE:
1. Flood mitigation.
2. Mosquito control.
3. Drainage for sewage.
4. Hospital supplies.

Ali Jeyte said no more handouts. He's fast becoming one of my favorite politicians.

I agree with the governor, I don't understand why Beledweyne has a flood every year, I think reer Hiiran should invest in making a dam or try to controll the water flow of the river instead of facing the inevitable every year and waiting for hand outs.

Also I am not sure if this is a conspiracy theory or not but I have heard the Ethiopians built a dam and controll the flow of the water, is it is possible they are behind these floodings?
:cosbyhmm:

beggars can't be choosers, either accept the free food from the NGO's or create your own infrastructure. but no NGO is going to build infrastructure for you.

He just tries to add pressure to get bigger things from NGOs.

They are beggars because of him. If he was a real leader then he would transform the region and not rely on assistance.

Hes not begging, he said if they cant provide what they actually need they should leave.

he should then feed whoever was relying on the aid from the NGO if he has no capacity to do that then he should shut his mouth.

and since when does a beggar get to choose how a patron spends his money? the entitlement from these people. it like you feeding a homeless person, then the homeless person says to you "give me a house or get lost i don't want your food" except this time it won't effect the governor but will effect the poor people that rely on the aid.

Why are PL folks always negative. You see the governor speaking out against unnecessary food aid . Hiiran folks clearly don’t need food aid as they have plenty and abundance of lush fertile land. Its seems you are hurt because of the short falls of your regional governments. Instead of criticizing the governor of hiiran for doing his job properly you should be criticizing your leaders for always begging and looking for handouts

Are you really comparing NGOs to an individual giving charity?

Do you really think NGOs were created out of a sense of goodwill and charity and not as a means to form influence and lobby over the vunerable nation?

Not to mention, these NGOs own stated goals are always to provide resources to enable grassroots development not handouts. Sowhy not fufill their own goals and aims instead of lying to stakeholders?

Also if a homeless man refuses food that’s his right. Being poor doesn’t rob you of dignity nor does it force you to buy him a house. You must respect his wishes.

The reason for the constant Beledweyne floods is not because of the river only but the
terrain the city is located on, it is located in a lowland below hills so it is bound to get
flooded a lot. A new Beledweyne might have to be built from scratch in future.

Yeah Beledweyn is a town that needs to be relocated because the amount of money to fix the flooding problem is exorbitant and even then it might still flood. Rainfall during Gu has been increasing over the years and it doesn't seem like its going to stop soon.
