The lower house of the parliament has already signed the agreement. :damn:

Do these ninjas even do their due diligence and actually read, debate, or even propose changes to the agreement.

We have some dumb and illiterate bastards in there.

Kinda crazy the pace somalia is going at, with debt relief, lifting of the arms embargo and now offshore oil production by the end of the year, and here I was hoping somalia would not extract any natural resources until at least ten years passed and instead in the mean time develop our livestock, agriculture and fisheries sectors of the economy.
Well that's going to be shut down because we having 30 percent of our resources taken away which is not good.

Lol. They just ratified it. It has not even been a day. No debate. No one knows exactly what they signed.

There is no free lunch. Turkey is now our colonial masters.

30 percent for an imaginary threat of ethiopia? I am suspecting this whole ethiopia thing was orchestrated to get the somali public to swallow turkey taking over our sea.

This is 100 times worse then the somaliland ethiopia deal

They get a bonus for every law they sign

Being an MP in Somalia is all about business sxb
I didn't know this. To me the only time they actually filled the quorum is when there is a motion to impeach a sitting PM. Obviously this comes with bribe money.

There is no independently functioning parliament anymore on the Somali peninsula. Not in Xamar, Puntland, Somaliland, etc.

The pact was signed weeks ago. For 30% of our resources Turkey will defend our sea like they would defend their own. Lafta naga and his tools can suck a D. In the meantime they'll build a modern navy that'll probably be the strongest in EA. Nothing is free in this world. No country does something out of good will, but Turkey has decided to be the closest "friend" of the somali people.

Edit: According to the UN $300 million is lost annually in Somalia due to IUU fishing, with foreign vessels sometimes engaging in dynamite fishing, which damages local marine resources, affects the livelihoods of local fishermen, and diverts funds away from Somalia’s economic development.

Indian, Pakistani- and Sri Lankan, Thai, Spanish, Iranian and Chinese vessels engage in Illegal fishing in the Somali EEZ.

Mogadishu is already under the protection of Burundi, Ethiopia and Uganda, one more country doesn't hurt them. Soon they may sign away their women to another country in exchange for "phase 2".
It happen with Qoslaya in his first term.

Let's clarify the terms of the agreement: "Turkey is committed to safeguarding Somalia's seas as if they were its own." Is the literal text of the agreement. Over the next decade, our nation will boast the most formidable navy in Africa. While this naval strength is strictly defensive, it does signify that any Ethiopian-built base or ship within the designated area will face Turkish counteraction.

It's essential to emphasize that Turkey isn't claiming 30% of our sea resources for the next ten years; instead, they will receive 30% of the revenue generated. This share is deducted from the Federal Government of Somalia's (FGS) portion of sea revenue, ensuring that the revenue stream for the Federal Member States (FMS) remains untouched.

Why is this arrangement not as detrimental as it may seem? Our maritime resources are vastly underutilized—Somalis scarcely consume fish, let alone crustaceans or seaweed. Effectively, we have granted the Turks a stake in our maritime resources. This incentivizes Turkey to invest significantly in Somalia's maritime sector, benefiting the FMS first, followed by the FGS, and finally, the Turks.

For the Turks point-of-view, they want to grow the pie to maximalize revenue. How do they do that? Firstly, give investors and international partners the cold hard agreement that you will patrol the seas and pacifiy any aggresive Ethiopian or terrorist activities in the sea.

For them it's like buying Apple shares back when it was 0.04$ a pop.

A notable aspect of this deal is that Turkey will not only train our navy but also provide proper equipment, transforming it from a coast-guard-tier force into a fully equipped navy. This collaboration holds the potential to elevate our navy to a green-water navy, marking a significant enhancement in our maritime capabilities.

Woow souties you clever, no wonder most corrupted goverment all around world!!.

We throw out Russia out of Somalia in 1977 because they had tie with Ethiopians!!.
