No one's saying they don't 'want' FGM, it's an honor practice that's commonplace and culturally enforced. It's a coming-of-age practice. If you don't 'want' it, you are shunned and unmarriable bc you have no 'sharaf' in the eyes of society. Men want an FGM'd women, women want FGM to be held in a place of honor. Women, for obvious reasons, perform the practice.
