Feelings & Possessions

This is an excerpt from one of Tariq Jameel’s speeches. Its translated more or less meaning.

A beautiful drawing room or superb bedroom will not bring about beautiful life. To own $ 200k necklace or half million ring will not ensure life is beautiful.

Sitting in half million car will not bring about beautiful life. Life is something else, posessions are something else.

Allah has provided guidance on this. Just as how Allah has given us life. Allah has provided guidance on how to beautify one’s life. If you intend to make your life beautiful then there is only one path.

“There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern.”(33:21)

I have visited Switzerland 2-3 times. Its one of the most beautiful countries in this world. I didn’t find poor people. People have means and are in good state. In that country euthanasia is allowed legally. If you want to commit suicide, its legal and you will be prescribed poison. The country, people, valleys, homes, means of transportation and glowing cities are all beautiful. Why is there permission to end one’s life? Because they don’t have knowledge/guidance on how to make one’s life beautiful.

Life is not about possessions but one’s feelings. When your feelings are hurt life becomes desolate. When feelings are taken care of life becomes beautiful. One’s feelings are not hurt due to owning a small car but someone ill treating you. Bad character ruins people’s lives. Good manners illuminates lives.

One man lives in glorious mansion and his children are disobedient. What do you think? He will be happy. The mother in that house will she be happy?

Between husband and wife there are no manners. Woman has sharp tongue and man has sharp tongue. So will they experience joy sitting in luxury car?

Eating on gold plates will happiness enter their lives?

Brothers & sisters life is about feelings. Feelings are not satisfied with rings, jewellery, things or large palaces. Feelings are tended with good character. There is no good treatment between brothers, husband, wife, children, parents and neighbours. That’s havoc in life.

narrated by Ahmad (15409) from Naafi’ ibn ‘Abd al-Haarith (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Part of a man’s happiness includes a good neighbour, a comfortable mount, and a spacious abode.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, no. 3029

Pls keep in mind 'spacious abode' doesn't imply a mansion because Prophets, companions or early scholars are usually known to have modest homes.
