Farmajo wants to rig the lower house elections in the south with NISA agents as candidates or electors. Why are NISA agents running as MP’s when they should dealing with Al Shabab? Well done to GO for exposing this.
Is that what you took from this?Lets release the list of names of people who work for the NISA, and their clans, and their departments, smart move in a country that is fighting AS and has some place which they can run amok.
And when AS does something, god forbid, lets blame it on the government for failing to prevent it![]()

We'd rather get worked up at women in jeans than get rid of these thugs. Reason number 1 why we're a failed state. These criminals should be hunted down by the Noble Somali citizens who care for the country. These criminals working for a regime that is destroying Somalia from the inside. Hunt them down to the ends of the earth if possible! View attachment 208292
They are running for public office while working as spies. There's nothing wrong with this.Burning spies sets a dangerous precedent.

Only in Somalia can literal spies run for office and abetting them be fine. If they cared about national security, they wouldn't run, would they? Not only should they be outed, their entire history should be revealed. I hope GO follows through. That’s completely wrong but even enemy countries rarely burn spies.
They will deal with it behind closed doors.
This sets a horrible precedent in Somalia, well intended or not.
I agree. In no normal country could a spy/ intelligence agent run for public office. Doesn’t make sense in any wayThat’s completely wrong but even enemy countries rarely burn spies.

100%. Somalia is so unprofessional that the media organisations have sensitive information that should only know be known by spies. Imagine if bbc news had information that should only be known by mi5This incident did not require burning spies.
This information could’ve been given to donor countries, the UNSOM offices or even the PL government.
GO could’ve easily handed this information behind closed doors to people who can change this situation.
Realistically, what change can be made by publishing this that wouldn’t have been made by handing this info to the aforementioned entities?
The fact that a media organisation has such detailed information on Somali spies, is very concerning. It means they, and many others potentially, have info on other Somali spies that can be leaked.

Realistically as long as qabil is a thing, a strong government or government run institutions will never run properly as people will go against the law or their rules and regulations for people of their own qabil. Sad honest truthUsually when news organisations discuss spies, they hide their name or other aspects of their identity.
Garowe Online could’ve easily used fake names or hide their qabiilis.
You think Somalia is some Tom Clancy movie? Where have you heard spy agents being used to intimidate opposition candidates, spy on and bribe elders and running for political office while still employed as spies? Under these circumstances, it was absolute right for GO to publish this list.Even though @Calaf is deflecting from the main point of the tweet, he is correct.
This was not a good move from GO, it’s blatantly illegal.
Burning spies is one of the lowest acts in the book. Even enemy nations rarely do it to one another.
For a media organisation to burn spies for a political reason sets a horrible precedent for us.
