In Somalia, the Somali shilling is not trusted for its instability and As a result, a cashless society in which evc is used to send lacag. In the West, there are checks and balances so 1 company doesn’t obtain a monopoly but that is not the case in Somalia and as a result Hormuud is extremely powerful. The problem also is that Al Shabaab used evc for their own purposes. Years ago, around 2014 Al Shabaab ordered hormuud to cut mobile internet or else. They obliged. I believe the only reason that mobile internet is back up is because of AS permission. I don’t believe they run Somalia, Somalia is more influenced by external factors.
