Europe is so ugly compared to the new world.

visited europe once and it felt like going back to the 1800s. everything was so old and dilapidated.

the new world(Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand) are way nicer.

Big cities in europe have both. Modern buildings and old architecture.

Paris (Haussmann architecture).

Some modern buildings too : "La défense".

The building regulations are very strict in iconic European cities like London and Paris. Tall buildings are generally not allowed and are only restricted to certain areas. They do this on purpose to keep the historic feel in these cities.

I have to mention, Paris has a cool urban form. From the looks of it, such results demand extensive planning, architectural and city-wide consideration to build and follow up consistently from a long-term perspective preserving city integrity.

Absolutely. You explained it well 👍🏾. You can read about the Haussmannization of Paris. Very interesting topic and it explains how Paris was designed.

Lol I lived in Sydney, it looks hundreds of years old when you get past the CBD.

Apart from some new residence areas and some new apartment building, half of Sydney at least looks like this;

For those wondering, this suburb is called Newtown which is like the arts hub of Sydney and very popular with young people.

So you actually prefer concrete jungles (and all the depression it induces) to classical elegance and the beauty and serenity of it all?

South Sudan has 79 counties, so I would just love to create 79 small cities that look like Zurich and Vienna. New York looks ugly; skyscrapers have an adverse affect on the mental health of a population and are terribly wasteful.

This right here is just heaven:

New York by comparison is tacky and disgusting. It's simply:

I have never been to New York but I always thought their street view was similar to Europe (which I have visited)

There's going to be a certain degree of overlap between European cities and certain parts of New York, but New York is far more congested, filled with an intolerable number of high rises and a dearth of public spaces.

Those beautiful buildings are pointless if the skyscrapers just end up blocking out the sun. Sydney and Melbourne could build taller skyscrapers but Australia understands the implications and capped the height of skyscrapers...

..Even China is moving away from skyscrapers and has instituted new regulations to curb the height of all new buildings.

What a bunch of bullshit.

Historic city centers in Europe are far more beautiful than that ugly modern architecture.

North America does not even have the best modern architecture, places like Dubai and Singapore have much nicer modern architecture.
