Ethiopia's population in 2025 is about 135 million

If they get too powerful in the future they could easily unuka leh some parts of Somalia Russian-style :snoop:

With a large population like that, i think we will pay a heavy price for being laangabs in the near future, may Allah safeguard Somalia.

They are busy cannibalizing each other.

At some point in the future, the world may descend into a period of incessant instability. The dominant global powers we know today will not hold their positions forever, and when they fall, the structures that currently keep certain regions in check will begin to collapse. In that vacuum, actors who were once restrained will feel emboldened to pursue their ambitions without limits.

Many may underestimate the threat posed by large, rapidly growing populations under the current international order. But once that order erodes, those who are weaker or fewer in number will pay a price ,one far greater than most can imagine.

Many Ethiopians have already convinced themselves that the Indian Ocean rightfully belongs to them. Those fantasies will likely be pursued when the moment feels right.

I sincerely hope Somalia is in a strong position when that time comes , well-prepared, well-armed, and heavily militarized. Because that war will most likely come. The only reason it hasn't happened yet is that the timing hasn’t suited them.

Even if there’s only a small chance these events unfold, it is so muhiim to have a government in power that thinks strategically about such possibilities. When you have a cadow like Ethiopia, rest should not be an option.

Eritrea is heavily armed kuma dhacaan inay isku taabtaan even though their numbers are small ,but i also think xogaha in laysku turaayo due to their shared indentity.

I truly hope Somalia becomes so militarily powerful that Ethiopia is left with no option but to rant, write articles, and mass-produce live meltdowns on TV intaas aa igu filan.

I want to see massive parades on the border, just to remind them of jugta loo gaystay in 77, in case the thought of invading ever crosses their minds, even for a split second.

We can't let them Palestine us completely

How much of that 135mill yall think is Somali
Somalis had 4.5 million in 2007. Oromos nearly doubled their population size, and Somalis have a higher birthrate than them. It is safe to say it is 10-12 million in a reasonable conservative estimate, as Somalis had a higher population increase compared to the national average. I saw the fertility rate a few years ago, and Somalis had the highest in producing children. In 2016, that number was at 7.2. It was recorded to be ~5.7 in 2019, still the highest.

There are 10-15 million Somalis in Galbeed, once you add in the Oromo speaking Somali clans, who are wrongly counted as Oromo, perhaps even 17 million.

The fixation some of you have with population numbers especially in the context of recent threads about "minorities," Bantu identity, or Somali fertility rates , is honestly telling.

We can't forget this thread i responded to recently:

In Somalia, the social fabric has historically been integrative and relatively egalitarian. There were no rigid caste systems or ethnic hierarchies like in other parts of the continent. People lived together, intermarried, collaborated , especially across local and communal lines.

It feels less like a genuine discussion and more like projecting deep-seated anxieties and identity crises. You’re not engaging from a place of wanting integration or understanding, but from othering yourselves and creating friction with the very collective you’re part of.

This pattern of self-othering, and the obsession with "minority" status or demographic paranoia, mirrors talking points borrowed from white supremacist rhetoric, like “population replacement” or “decline.” It’s a strange echo of ideologies that don’t belong here and have no roots in Somali society.

If anything, y’all need to stop consuming these harmful narratives and start asking: why am I so fixated on alienating myself from my own people? Because that’s the real conversation that’s overdue.

Nope more like 10-15 mill and growing

It's actually 25 million . The Somali regional government have to keep accurate track when they roll out programs to meet the needs of the citizens.

The Somali population is the 2nd largest ethnic population inside Ethiopia.

It would mean that Somali population is the largest as well in the region with 50 million which exceeds the 40-45 of Oromo's in total if you take all 5 regions together.

Ogaden 25 mill, Somalia 20 mill, Djibouti 1 million and NFD 5 million = 51 million in total.

How is that possible? That means there’s more somalis in Galbeed than in Somalia.

I just checked the Somali Regional State Wiki page and it says the same thing 😳

I could’ve sworn that the official numbers were 12 million or something awhile ago.
