Walahi ,I never thought I will say this but I really pray for the poor Tigerey families that were killed and massacred by the genocidial dictators of Ethopia and Eritrea.

I argue the International community and donors to file charges on both Abiya and Afwerki at the Hague for the genocide they committed against the Tigrey ethnic group and be jailed for eternity.

The Western nations should dismantle these two evil aid depending countries for Good, we should all write to local US repensetives/senators and request them to stop funnelling our US tax money funding more ethnic genocide in Ethiopia and Eritrean.

Ethiopia PM Ahmed Abiy admits Eritrea forces in Tigray

March 23, 2021, 12:39 pm
Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed speaking to parliament in November 2020

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said any soldier responsible for raping or looting would be held accountable

Ethiopia's prime minister has acknowledged for the first time that troops from neighbouring Eritrea have been in the Tigray region following the outbreak of conflict in November.
For months both countries have denied that troops crossed the border.

Abiy Ahmed told MPs that Eritrean forces came fearing they would be attacked by Tigray's regional fighters.
The conflict began after the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) captured military bases in the region.

The TPLF had been the ruling party in the northern Ethiopian region, but had a massive fall-out with Mr Abiy over the future of Ethiopia's ethnically based federal system and its role in government.
Hundreds of thousands of people have fled their homes in Tigray over the last five months.

Despite the TPLF being ousted from power in Tigray at the end of November and Mr Abiy declaring that the conflict was over, fighting is continuing in parts of the region.
What was Eritrea's involvement?
Mr Abiy, a former Nobel Peace Prize winner, did not admit Eritrean soldiers had been deployed in Ethiopian towns.

Rights groups allege Eritrean soldiers have committed atrocities in towns like Aksum, which include killing unarmed civilians, raping women and the widespread looting of public and private properties.
The prime minister told parliament that Eritrea had said its soldiers were acting to secure the border, taking over trenches there abandoned by Ethiopian soldiers who had gone off to fight.

He said he had spoken to Eritrean officials about allegations that soldiers from Eritrea had carried out atrocities in Tigray.
"After the Eritrean army crossed the border and was operating in Ethiopia, any damage it did to our people was unacceptable," the AFP news agency quotes him as saying.
His Twitter account added: "Reports indicate that atrocities have been committed in Tigray region.

"Regardless of the TPLF propaganda of exaggeration, any soldier responsible for raping our women and looting communities in the region will be held accountable as their mission is to protect."

To many observers it has long been clear that Mr Abiy struck a deal with Eritrea's President Isaias Afwerki to combine forces and oust a common enemy - the regional TPLF government in Tigray. But to deflect criticism both capitals denied that Eritrean soldiers were inside Tigray.

Mr Abiy was describing the conflict as an internal law and order issue in a bid to stave off international criticism. He told the UN chief that Eritrean soldiers had only gone to disputed areas close to the border, which Ethiopia had already agreed to hand over.

The prime minister would also have had a tough job convincing all Ethiopians that inviting in Eritrean troops was a good idea - despite the 2018 peace agreement people still have bitter memories of the devastating border war the two countries fought from 1998 to 2000.

But with so many reports of sightings of Eritrean soldiers and unrelenting allegations of human rights abuses and looting in villages and towns, the pretence has become impossible to keep up - hence Mr Abiy's U-turn.

He chose his words carefully - never mentioning their presence in the towns of Tigray. Instead he referred to the border area - the extent of which is open to interpretation. He also quoted Eritrean officials as saying the soldiers would leave as soon as Ethiopia's army could control the trenches along the frontier.
There was another admission as a result of the growing weight of evidence. Mr Abiy also - on behalf of both countries - condemned any atrocities that had taken place. Slowly but surely the gruesome truth is coming out.

Are the atrocities being investigated?
Last week, the UN said it would work with the state-linked Ethiopian Human Rights Commission to investigate reports of the indiscriminate killing of civilians and widespread sexual abuse.

The US has described the violence in Tigray as ethnic cleansing. It has also demanded the withdrawal of Eritrean forces.
Eritrea has dismissed accusations of abuses - in particular those detailed in Aksum - as "preposterous" and "fabricated".
At the end of November, Mr Abiy had told parliament that "not a single civilian was killed" during the conflict.

A communications and electricity blackout and restricted access to Tigray has meant reports of what has gone on have been slow to emerge.

Ethiopia’s leader says atrocities reported in Tigray war
By RODNEY MUHUMUZAtoday

KAMPALA, Uganda (AP) — Ethiopia’s leader on Tuesday said atrocities have been reported in Tigray, his first public acknowledgment of possible war crimes in the country’s northern region where fighting persists as government troops hunt down its fugitive leaders.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed also admitted, after repeated denials by authorities, that troops from neighboring Eritrea have gone into Tigray, where their presence has inflicted “damages” on the region’s residents.
“Reports indicate that atrocities have been committed in Tigray region,” Abiy said in an address Tuesday before lawmakers in the capital, Addis Ababa.

War is “a nasty thing,” he said, speaking the local Amharic language. “We know the destruction this war has caused.” He said soldiers who raped women or committed other crimes will be held responsible, even though he cited “propaganda of exaggeration” by the Tigray People’s Liberation Front, the once-dominant party whose leaders challenged Abiy’s legitimacy after the postponement of elections last year.

Commenting on the reported presence of Eritrean troops in Ethiopia, Abiy said they crossed the border and moved across Tigray, “causing damages to our people ... We won’t accept that.”

He suggested the Eritrean soldiers are not there with his blessing. “The argument the Eritrean government presents for this is that it is a national security issue because Ethiopian troops are going after (Tigrayan) forces in other locations, so they want to keep controlling border areas,” he said. “But they have told us they don’t have the willingness to stay as long as we control trenches along the border.”

Abiy spoke as concern continues to grow over the humanitarian situation in the embattled region that is home to 6 million of Ethiopia’s more than 110 million people. Authorities haven’t cited a death toll in the war, but a trio of opposition groups based in Tigray say more than 50,000 have been killed.

The United States has characterized some abuses in the Tigray war as “ethnic cleansing,” charges dismissed by Ethiopian authorities as unfounded. It also has urged Eritrean troops, who are fighting on the side of Ethiopian government forces, to withdraw from Tigray.

The Ethiopian prime minister, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2019 for his efforts to make peace with Eritrea, faces pressure to end the conflict in Tigray as well as to institute an international investigation into alleged war crimes, ideally led by the United Nations. The government’s critics say an ongoing federal probe simply isn’t enough because the government can’t effectively investigate itself.

Rupert Colville, a spokesman in Geneva for U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet, told The Associated Press last week that Ethiopia’s Human Rights Commission had asked to participate with her office in “a joint investigation into allegations of serious human rights violations by all sides” in Tigray.
Accounts of atrocities by Ethiopian and allied forces against residents of Tigray have been detailed in reports by The Associated Press and by Amnesty International.

But Abiy said in Tuesday’s address, which included answering questions from lawmakers, that fighters loyal to the Tigray People’s Liberation Front had committed a massacre in the town of Mai Kadra. “But it is not getting enough attention,” he said of that massacre, describing it as “the worst” in the conflict.

The Tigray conflict began in November, when Abiy sent government troops into the region after an attack there on federal military facilities. The federal army is now hunting the fugitive regional leaders, who have reportedly retreated into Tigray’s remote mountainous areas.
Full Coverage: Ethiopia.

Abiy accused Tigray’s leaders of drumming up “a war narrative” while the area faced challenges such as a destructive invasion of locusts and the COVID-19 pandemic. “This was misplaced and untimely arrogance,” he said, according to a transcript of his comments posted on Twitter by the prime minister’s office.

President Joe Biden last week dispatched Sen. Chris Coons to Ethiopia to express the administration’s “grave concerns” about the growing humanitarian crisis and human rights abuses in Tigray, and the risk of broader instability in the Horn of Africa. Details of Coons’ weekend visit haven’t been released.

Humanitarian officials have warned that a growing number of people might be starving to death in Tigray. The fighting erupted on the brink of harvest in the largely agricultural region and sent an untold number of people fleeing their homes. Witnesses have described widespread looting by Eritrean soldiers as well as the burning of crops.

The problem with this inexperienced PM of Ethiopia is he thinks that once he blames Eritrea of all crimes in Tigray that all the blame will shift to Eritrea.
The fact remains who invited Eritrea and all attrocities will be blamed on Abye even if it is carried out by aliens from mars as long as they are invited by Ethiopia.

Abye also said Amhara militias have a right to carry massacres in Tigray and get back their land in Western & Southern Tigray.
He said he can send them even to Jigjiga if they are required to as they are doing service to the country.
The question is where in the Ethiopian constitution does it say bandits can be used to help ENDF?

He will use them more often. It's like Milosevic sent radical kosovar Serbs to take over the Yugoslav republics one by one.

It doesn’t matter as long as this behaviour keeps up the country will certainly balkanise. Don’t forget that now every major ethnic group has tasted ethnic federalism no one apart from the raw meat eating axmaar want to return to it

Fake and misleading Title!

I watched the full video of the PM in the original Amharic and the PM never said as the title of this thread suggests. He never talked about genocide or ethnic cleansing, this is all made up. Stop misleading and faking it. Admit genocide kulaha.

The PM said ENDF currently is not patrolling the Ethio-Eritrean boarder as it did the last 23 years, protecting Tigray from Eritrean attacks because TPLF back stabbed ENDF and massacred our troops from behind while they were asleep. Those who survived the surprise attack retreated and regrouped in Eritrea. Now ENDF is in no mood to die for Tigray border, especially against Eritrea that sheltered it during the shameful attack of TPLF. The Eritrean army fills this gap and patrols the border at least for now. That is what the PM said. He also said the Eritreans will leave the border area the moment ENDF is willing to take over and guaranty that Tigray is no more a threat to Eritrea. But ENDF currently has no appetite to do so. Of course the PM worded it differently saying that we are currently not able to patrol the border area.

In the same token ENDF is in no mood to take over the so called western Tigray from Amhara Liyu. ENDF's involvement in Tigray will continuously decrease since the soldiers are also not willing to sacrifice for Tigray anymore (at least for now) as they did in Badme war against Eritrea. The PM specifically said an army that is being back stabbed from behind has no obligation to protect that region.

Concerning human rights violations, the PM said human rights violation accusations are way exaggerated but any real violation will be independently investigated and will be brought to justice independent of by whom the crime was committed (ENDF, Eritrean Soldiers or Amhara forces).

Stop the 🧢 you fkin danyeer. You said that the ENDF is in no mood to protect the region from foreign aggressors so is Tigray Ethiopia or not?
Abiy is a retard and he’s baited himself. Doesn’t have the appetite to defend the border kulaha gtfoh with that bs

Why should ENDF protect Tigray after Tigray killed those who are protecting them? Who's gonna protect the border? Those who were protecting were massacred. We can't send our kids endlessly to sacrifice for Tigray while they are massacring them. Give me a break! The PM is right. We have no appetite to patrol the border or in another words, those who were patrolling are already massacred. Sorry. We have to see in the coming months and years if the people of Tigray are disassociating themselves from the TPLF and cooperating with the government. Only then we can surely send our troops to protect at the border and not when we are not sure if they yet again massacre those who are protecting them.

So if the people and de facto leadership don’t support the government the ENDF ignores a foreign military ethnic cleansing them?

So if the people and de facto leadership don’t support the government the ENDF ignores a foreign military ethnic cleansing them?

The people must decide to stand with Ethiopia or with a criminal gang that massacred ENDF while the troops were asleep. Stand with Ethiopia doesn't mean support for the governing party but distance themselves from criminal TPLF. And there is no evidence for ethnic cleansing or genocide. Currently, all medias and human rights organizations have full access to Tigray but they couldn't produce prove for a systematic genocide or ethnic cleansing. Anyway, as the PM said human rights abuses will be independently investigated with the UN human rights agencies.

But don't expect ENDF yet again to sacrifice for Tigray as it did during and after the Badme war. The army has no obligation to protect people who massacre it or give full support for criminals that massacre the army while it was protecting Tigray. Even if PM Abiy wants, the army will in this case simply refuse to die for Tigray. ENDF paid heavy price for Tigray during and after the Badme war and got massacred as a thank you.

Now the people and the elite of Tigray have an obligation to make their minds and to guaranty that they will never ever do such shameful crime against ENDF. Only when we are sure that this is not gonna happen again, only then will ENDF start patrolling the border again. How can you massacre your country's soldiers while they were protecting you and expect the same soldiers to die for you against a country that sheltered the army? The decision is up to the people and the elite of Tigray.

Fake and misleading Title!

Even from the material cited in the OP- nowhere does Ahmed say there was a genocide. He admits there were Eritreans in Tigray and that there were atrocities but says that TPLF propaganda is exaggerating.

People shouldn't lie to make their case. If they're telling the truth there should be no need to lie.
